Having a very-very minor public profile means we very-very occasionally get invited to do nice things, which tonight included getting to hang out at The Cray in Innaloo. We love this chain at the best of times, so getting to eat as a guest was a real thrill, and something we never take for granted. The place was of course full of young people, digital content producers, or more usually called “influencers”. The place smelled of Instagram as soon as we walked in. Or it may have just been seafood. I was genuinely the oldest person in there. “are you on Instagram ”we were asked…. “nope, that’s for you young people”….
I’m afraid I am a see food creature of habit and had the platter, prawns, calamari, cray fish, fish, different fish, mussels, scallops, Morton bay bugs, and chips. Washed down with a complimentary ginger beer…. And a panna cotta chaser. With places in Currambine, Freo, Mandarah and Rockingham, I feel we may need to do all of them. Maybe I can declare it a culinary tour de cray!. Thanks to TheCray Innaloo for picking up the tab. With Yvonne Duffield

Yvonne Duffield and I had the pleasure of catching up with Uma from Chilli Farms Curry Shop - we may have had a bite to eat as well. Uma has a community drive and has donated to a campaign I put together to encourage Australian Red Cross Lifeblood donations. Well, thanks to Uma and other, we are on target for a 1000 lives saved this year. If you are in WA, please like his page and maybe even call in. If you are elsewhere in the world, checkout how we curry in WA.

Happy Wedding Anniversary Eve Yvonne Duffield
When you think of it, married life seems like quite an odd thing - you choose a similarly weird person to yourself, fall in love, and decide to stay weird together for the rest of your lives. Interesting fact, 66% of our bridesmaids now identify as Australian. The other 33% is coming on a holiday in March. 100% of the bride and groom are also down under. Of our 34 years and 364 days married, 37% as been spent in Australia. When I had my “quit our cosy life in the UK” midlife crisis in 2011, despite her reservations (snakes, spiders, being ginger in the sun, sharks) she supported me and helped, along with Emily, us make it happen. We enjoy each other’s company, have never gone to bed on an argument and can’t remember the last time we fell out. If ever there was proof opposites attract it’s us. Whilst I affectionately call her the current Mrs D, she is of course, the definitive and only Mrs D. Clearly the George Clooney and Jennifer Aniston of Wanneroo, we are looking forward to doing something special tomorrow evening to celebrate. Marriage is like a jigsaw – sometimes you have no idea where all the pieces fit, but in the end, it’s a beautiful picture. Happy Coral Anniversary Mrs D ! Sorry about the Fremantle Dockers :)

In 2054, aged just 88, I will have lived in Australia longer than in the UK. That milestone passes for Emily Duffield tomorrow. Amazing what she's achieved in 13 short years, from arrival 13 years ago today, to crazy cat lady with a passion for AFL, rugby, cricket with an eye for optometry. Living our best life everyday. Check out the picture, Emily now wears my top :) We had a red sofa and yellow walls at one stage. Can't believe we had Poo on the sofa. She was wearing the Burton top modeled here by me, last week when we were in town. Congrats to Emily and Yvonne Duffield on 13 years here.
