A big thank you to Warwick Pistol Club Inc. for their wonderful hospitality and a fantastic Open this weekend!

We had a strong contingent of Beaudesert Pistol Club members make the trip to Warwick to compete, and it was a terrific weekend of shooting, friendly competition and catching up with fellow shooters.

Congratulations to everyone who competed, and a special thank you to all the volunteers and fellow shooters who generously gave their time to help make the event such a success.

And that’s a wrap on our 2026 Open!

Beautiful weather greeted us for Day 2, with plenty more great competition on the ranges and a couple more 50s to celebrate.

🎯 𝗖𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻 put a 50 on the target today, as did 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲 – a pretty nice result to add to his birthday celebrations! (Happy Birthday, Dave! 🎂)

A very big thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success – our hardworking committee and club members, along with the many competitors who happily pitched in and lent a hand between their own matches. It takes a lot of people working together to pull off an event like this, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed.

And, of course, thank you to all of our competitors for joining us over the weekend. Special mention to our Beauy club members for keeping a nice chunk of the medals here on home soil.

Safe travels everyone, and we look forward to welcoming you all back to Beaudesert in 2027!

🎯 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟭 – 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡

Day one of competition is underway, and it’s been hotly contested from the outset, with a high standard of shooting demonstrated across all matches.

We’re fortunate to have competitors joining us from clubs across Queensland, with experience levels ranging from D Grade right through to A Grade. For some, this weekend is their very first Open competition – great to have you here!

🎯 A special mention to 𝗕𝗼𝗯 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗸, who put a perfect 50 on the target today – no small feat and certainly worthy of a photo! 👏

A huge thank you to our fantastic team of volunteers, made up of our own club members as well as competitors who have happily pitched in between their own matches to keep everything running smoothly. We really appreciate everyone who has lent a hand. ❤️

Big congrats to Susie nailing her first ever 50! 🤩 Shot today during the Rapid Fire stage of Women’s 25m Pistol event. And at the Pistol Shooting QLD State Champs no less! (Sorry no pic of the actual target - her mum was shooting in the same match so only heard the applause!)

Susie is one of our Teens group who train regularly at our club on a Wednesday afternoon. We’re keen to grow our Junior ranks so if you have a teenager looking for a sport that’s a bit different to most of what’s on offer get in touch. We have a Come and Try event next weekend!

Best of luck to our members competing this weekend!

PSQ State Championships
starting on Friday at Brisbane International Shooting Centre.
33 clubs from across the country are represented competing in all the ISSF matches including Supported Rest events and 25m Pistol for men.
Qualifications and a Final to determine the 25m Rapid Fire State Champion start the competition off on Friday.

Great to see all matches getting well supported today including the morning and afternoon matches.

We’ve got a busy couple of months coming up at the club with a Come & Try day in a couple of weeks and then our annual Open competition later in September.

If you’ve been thinking about coming to try pistol shooting to see if it might be the sport for you, jump online and reserve a spot for our August event. It’s already half full and we won’t have another until mid October!

Members! New match times start tomorrow!

Our updated Saturday match schedule begins this Saturday, 4 July, giving members more opportunities to participate in more matches.

This week:

🕘 9:30am – Centre Fire / Sport Pistol
🕦 11:30am – Air Pistol
🕑 2:00pm – Standard Pistol

Take a break between matches with a tea or coffee and a biscuit in the clubhouse, or grab a cold drink from the fridge.

✅ Please arrive early to sign the range register so matches can start on time.

📋 Range Officers: Our new RO roster also begins this Saturday. Members, please check the match calendar so you know what days/times you have been rostered on for.

A different kind of fire power at the range… fire ants ☠️

We are located in the thick of fire ant country in south east Queensland and they’ve been present here for the past couple of years despite ongoing campaigns by the government to “eradicate” them.

These latest nests have been built are since recent rain and their favorite place is the secluded space within the range walls. These ones have been baited now but from experience it takes more than one application.

The gov has been busy in the area these past couple of weeks with drone and helicopter application of baits too. But that’s happened several times before and we never notice any real reduction. The only thing that seems to slow them down a bit is dry weather when the ground turns to concrete.

It’s hard not to feel like there was too little done too late, but apparently the agencies are optimistic they will get on top of them 🤷‍♀️
