🍽️ Steelworks Eatery Player of the Week 🍽️

This week’s Player of the Week is Lynne “Batty” Brown! She’ll be asleep already at 7.30pm, and only uses Instagram - not Facebook, so please let her know!!

Batty has been playing with me for a few years now and is one of our OG crew. We’re part of a group that regularly catches up outside of pickleball for coffee, chats and PLENTY of laughs. To be honest, I’m amazed we haven’t been kicked out of Buckley’s Chance yet for the amount of noise we make! 😂

On the court, Batty never gives up. She fights hard for every point, competes fiercely, and when things get serious, she has one of the best competition faces in the game. You know you’re in for a battle when that look appears!

Now, where does the nickname “Batty” come from? Well, I have a pet peeve about people not calling their pickleball paddles by their proper name. Despite years of coaching, Batty STILL calls her paddle a “bat” (it must be a Kiwi thing?! 🇳🇿😂). It got so bad that I even made her DUPR name Lynne “Batty” Brown!

Batty is a wonderful example of great sportsmanship, positivity and friendship. She’s an absolute delight to play with and against, and she helps make our pickleball community such a special place.

We love having you as part of our pickleball family, Batty. Congratulations on being our Steelworks Eatery Player of the Week! 💙

What a lesson today!

It brings me so much joy to see kids out on the court learning, laughing and building confidence.

Today we welcomed my youngest player ever – beautiful little Quill, aged just 3! 🥰 He loved joining in the games, listened really well and followed instructions like a champ.

💙 Piper (missing from pic) worked 1:1 with Nick for most of today and is quickly perfecting her overhead smash and is starting to look very dangerous out there!

🌟 Vesper took home our Positive Player Award today for her fantastic attitude and encouragement of others.

🦛 Phoenix was our Hungry Hungry Hippos champion and absolutely loved every minute of it. He can move SO fast!

🎉 And Ava (who managed to dodge the photo!) came up with some great game suggestions today. I love seeing the kids contribute ideas and help shape the sessions.

A huge thank you to Nick for helping out today. Having extra hands on deck makes such a difference, and the kids love having him involved.

I honestly can’t wait until next week. Seeing these kids develop skills and confidence is one of the best parts of my week. 💙

🏆 ANNOUNCING OUR NEW JUNIOR PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD🏆

Over the past few weeks, our junior numbers have exploded from just 4 kids attending each week to around 48 kids across our lessons, homeschool sessions and private coaching!

I absolutely love seeing so many kids out on the courts, learning new skills, making friends, and most importantly, having fun.

Because of this growth, we’re introducing our Junior Player of the Week Award.

This award is a little different…
❌ It won’t go to the best player.
❌ It won’t go to the player who wins the most games.

Instead, it will be awarded to a junior who demonstrates things like:
💙 Encouragement
🤝 Sportsmanship
😊 Positive attitude
🌟 Respect
🎉 Effort

Whether they’re attending our Kids Lessons, Homeschool Pickleball, Private Lessons or Legends & Lightning, every junior participant is eligible.

At Positively Pickleball, we’re not just teaching kids how to hit a pickleball. We’re helping them learn how to encourage others, be good teammates, show resilience, and create a positive environment for everyone around them.

Because those are the skills that matter long after the game is over.

💙 PLAY POSITIVE + LIVE POSITIVE 💙

The first recipient will be announced tonight!

🌅 What a spectacular night at Legends & Lightning! 🌅

The pickleball was great, but the sunset may have stolen the show tonight. Moments like these remind me just how lucky we are to have such an amazing community surrounding our courts.

From the laughs and encouragement to the friendly competition, it’s the people who make Legends & Lightning so special.

A big thank you to Chen Tay for joining us tonight and getting amongst the action. We always appreciate having quality players and great people share the court with us.

Some nights you just stand back, look around, and think: how good is this? 💙🏓

How beautiful is this? The fog is pretty nice too. 😍

The morning started off very foggy, but that certainly didn’t stop the fun!

Our younger kids kicked things off with lots of games while working on hand-eye coordination, movement skills and dinking. There were plenty of smiles, laughs and energy on court.

The older kids then stepped things up, focusing on drop shots from the base line and serving before finishing with a competitive game of King of the Court. They’re even starting to get the hang of scoring, which is fantastic to see!

They’re encouraging each other, having fun and building friendships along the way.

Such a great bunch of kids! 💙
