Last Sunday, the GMFC was invited to attend a Social Fly Day at the Kingaroy Aero Modellers Society (KAMS) airfield. Three GMFC members (Liz & John Nord, and myself) made the trip to Kingaroy as well as members from Samford Valley and Burnett Heads. The weather was perfect, the hospitality was fantastic and the facilities were sensational. KAMS, with support from the MAAQ, treated us to a sausage sizzle lunch and some local produce which was rather delicious.
This was an excellent opportunity to socialise with other aeromodellers and gather ideas on how to improve our own facilities and processes, as well as being able to fly on a different airfield (with less trees!)
All in all it was a fantastic day and well worth the journey. I look forward to being able to reciprocate in the not too distant future.

The GMFC field was chosen by the Cooloola Classic Car Club (CCCC) as the venue to hold their 2022 Australia Day meet. The CCCC put on a sausage sizzle for their members as well as GMFC members in attendance and it proved to be a very successful day. Well done to Max Nord for arranging the event.
Members from the GMFC provided an additional display by demonstrating their RC aircraft flying skills.
The GMFC look forward to being able to help out again in the future.

Another successful Bunnings Sausage Sizzle yesterday. Whilst the weather was a little uncomfortable with passing showers and relatively high humidity, it was nevertheless a good day.
Once again, a huge thank you to the members who volunteered their time to help, namely Liz, Lindsay (who slaved over the BBQ for 8 hours straight), John K, Nick C, Regan, Sandy & Peter, and Greg S (oh, and I guess I should put me in there as well π).
Thanks team - well done.πππ

Yesterday's Trains, Planes and Automobiles event in support of Veterans Health Week turned out to be a terrific day - weather was kind although a little warmer than we would have liked. Nevertheless the wind played ball and our pilots (Wayne, Peter B and John C) were able to demonstrate their skills to those who attended. A good turnout of historic cars from the Gympie Historic Auto Club plus a few 'ring-ins' which made for an even better display. Thanks to our members who took the effort to display their planes and Gary for his RC car statics and handling demonstration.
Thanks again to Liz and Lindsay for putting on the sausage sizzle and braving the heat whilst cooking the BBQ.
Finally, thanks to the Gympie RSL Sub-Branch for sponsoring the event and Bunnings and the Mary Valley Rattler for their kind donations to the raffle. Which I might add, was won by one of our veterans - congratulations.
Overall a successful day and we look forward to another community-based activity down track.
