🥋 Mackay Kendo Club – Grading Day 🥋

What a fantastic day for Mackay Kendo Club! 🇯🇵🥋

Today our students stepped onto the floor for their Kendo grading, putting into practice the skills, discipline and knowledge they have been developing through their training.
There were plenty of nervous faces at the start, but those nerves quickly turned into concentration, determination and some excellent Kendo. Every student gave their best effort and showed great improvement from where they started.

🎉 Congratulations to all our students!

We are extremely proud to announce that all of our students achieved great results in their grading! 👏👏

Each grade represents more than just passing an examination. It represents the hours spent learning Reiho, Ashisabaki, Kamae, Suburi, Kihon, footwork, strikes, Kirikaeshi and Kendo etiquette, as well as the confidence to step forward and perform in front of an examination panel.
A special congratulations to everyone who faced the challenge today — you should all be very proud of yourselves!

🙇‍♂️ A big thank you
We would also like to thank our grading panel, instructors, senior students, motodachi, families and supporters who helped make the day possible.

Grading days are not just about the students being examined. They are the result of everyone working together to support the development of our Local Kendo community.
It was wonderful to see the students supporting and encouraging each other throughout the day. That is what makes a club strong.

🥋 But the journey continues...
For those who graded today, congratulations on reaching your new grade — but remember, this is another step in your Kendo journey, not the destination.
There is always more to learn, more to practice and more opportunities to improve.

Keep training. Keep learning. Keep challenging yourself.

"Every journey begins with a single step"

From everyone at Mackay Kendo Club — congratulations! 🎉🥋

Ganbatte!

A MESSAGE FROM MACKAY KENDO CLUB TO OUR STUDENTS

REMEMBER,

Kendo can be challenging.

There will be nights when your feet don't seem to work.

There will be times when your shinai feels awkward.

There will be techniques that take months to understand.

There will be days when you are tired.

There will also be moments when something suddenly clicks.

That is part of kendo.

Don't compare your progress with somebody else's.

Your journey is your own.

Come to training.

Work hard.

Listen.

Practice.

Respect others.

Keep learning.

And most importantly:

KEEP GOING.

This is Kendo, the way of the sword
