Dear SSAA NSW Members and Members of the Shooting Community,
In recent weeks, the shooting and fi****ms community has been under increased public scrutiny following the tragic events in Bondi. This has understandably prompted broader discussion about our sport, our industry, and the regulatory environment in which we operate.
Considering these circumstances, and after careful consideration, the SSAA NSW SHOT Expo Committee has made the decision to reschedule the SSAA SHOT Expo to 22–23 May 2027, to be held at the Sydney Showgrounds.
This decision reflects both the current environment and our responsibility as a peak association. With potential regulatory and policy changes being discussed, we believe it is important that a major event representing our community is held at a time when members, clubs, businesses, and stakeholders can engage with confidence, clarity, and stability.
We also believe it is important to acknowledge the significance of the events in Bondi and to show respect to those impacted, their families, and the broader Australian community. Allowing time to pass before hosting a major industry event of this nature is, in our view, a respectful and appropriate course of action.
Postponing the Expo also allows us to ensure it delivers the quality, value, and representation that our members and the wider shooting community expect. The additional lead time will enable even stronger planning, broader engagement, and a more impactful national event when we return in 2027.
The new timing places the SSAA SHOT Expo at the beginning of winter, a period that has historically supported strong attendance and participation and positions the event for long-term success and sustainability.
The SSAA SHOT Expo Committee remains deeply committed to supporting lawful, responsible shooting sports, advocating for our members, and ensuring our community is represented with professionalism and integrity. This decision has been made with the long-term strength of the sport and its participants firmly in mind.
We thank you for your understanding and continued support. The SSAA SHOT Expo is an important event for our community, and we look forward to bringing it back in 2027 at a time that best serves our members and the industry.
