A huge weekend for the Two Blues, with five games played across Saturday and Sunday! Big wins for our 3rd XI and our women, who kicked off their Geoff Law Shield season in style, and plenty of fight shown across all our teams.

A brilliant 79 with 11 fours and a six, the top score across the club this round, plus a tight 0/6 from 4 overs. Levi set up a big 5/229 from 35 overs as our 3rd XI went on to a 149 run win over Preston Druids. Well played, Levi! 🔥

Congratulations to all twelve players selected, and a big welcome back to our women's side, who started the season with a 63 run win! Let's keep the momentum going into Round 4. Play hard, back each other, and represent the blue with pride! 💪

🏏💙 ASJCC WEEKEND WRAP-UP | SEASON 2026/27

5 TEAMS. 5 MATCHES. ONE TWO BLUES FAMILY! 🔥

Another action-packed weekend of cricket for Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club, filled with big performances, fighting spirit, exciting debuts and plenty of lessons to take forward!

🏏 1ST XI | Round 3
A tough outing against Darebin Chargers, going down by 9 wickets. Vishal (26*), Vivek (23) and Shehab (22) led the batting efforts, while skipper Omar picked up the lone wicket.

🏏 2ND XI | Round 4
The boys showed incredible fighting spirit against Donnybrook! Defending just 69, they fought hard to claim 5 wickets. Raj led the charge with 3 wickets, supported by Mukesh and Nahid Tanjum.

A DOMINANT 149-RUN VICTORY! 💪
A sensational 104-run opening partnership between Barno and Levi set the platform for 229/5, before James and Jack ripped through the Preston Druids batting lineup with 3 wickets each!

🏏 4TH XI | Round 2
A challenging day against Kealba, but Shuvo and Ovi battled hard with 21 runs apiece. Monjurul impressed with a tidy 1/11 from 5 overs, alongside wickets from Labib and Levi.

Our reigning premiers kicked off their Geoff Law Shield campaign in style with a brilliant 63-run victory over Sydenham-Hillside! A commanding 173/3, an exciting debut wicket for Lexi and some outstanding teamwork made it a perfect start to the season!

💙 Two fantastic wins, some tough battles and plenty of positives across all five teams!

Cricket isn't just about the scoreboard. It's about showing up, backing your teammates, fighting until the final ball and coming back stronger every week.

ASJCC ROUND 2 REVIEW | TWO WINS, ONE TOUGH LOSS! 🔵⚪

What a weekend of cricket for Aberfeldie St Johns CC! Plenty of runs, wickets, brilliant individual performances, a few nervous moments, and plenty of entertainment across all XIs! 💪🔥

🔹 1ST XI | SO CLOSE, YET SO FAR!

Our 1st XI fought hard against Donnybrook, restricting them to 169 thanks to Gagan's 4 wickets, Omar and Vivek's 2 each, and Dipesh's two brilliant run-outs.

The chase looked promising at 78/2, with Ammaar (35) and Dipesh (27) leading the way, but a middle-order collapse saw us fall just 23 runs short. Plenty of positives despite the result!

🔹 2ND XI | THE CHARGERS GOT CHARGED BACK HOME! ⚡😂

Skipper Farhad won a crucial toss, and the batters made the most of it! Pallab Paul (75) and Anzor Yousuf (66) helped post a commanding 243/9.

The bowlers then took over! Tanjum grabbed 4 wickets on barely two hours of sleep, debutant Raj Singh claimed 3, Evan picked up 2, and Hrithik chipped in with 1.

Darebin Chargers were bundled out for just 118, sealing a massive 125-RUN VICTORY! 🏆

🔹 3RD XI | THE PERFECT START TO THE SEASON! 🏆

Captain JZ chose to bowl first, and debutant Mukesh delivered a sensational 4/18! Barno (2/4), James (2/40) and JZ (1/10) kept the pressure on as Westmeadows finished on 109/9.

A few quick wickets made the chase interesting, but Tariq's unbeaten 40, supported by James (16), guided the boys home with 15 overs to spare!

A winning start without bowling a ball! Victory by forfeit from Royal Park Reds and a first win for Barno in his debut as captain. Talk about a dream start to captaincy! 🏆

🏆 ASJCC Presentation Night 2025/26 🏆

This Weekend, the club came together to celebrate everything that made the 2025/26 season special. From our Senior Women’s incredible success to the grit shown across all three men’s teams, it was a night full of pride, memories and recognition.

Our Senior Women’s team set the tone for the night, a season to remember capped off with premiership success and individual brilliance across the board. A true reflection of hard work, belief and team culture. Congratulations to Lauren Gourlay on a dominant season, taking out Best & Fairest, while Laura Newton, Justine Musubika and others delivered huge contributions with the bat and ball.

We then reflected on the season as a whole, recognising key milestones across the club, including centuries, five wicket hauls and major career achievements. These moments highlighted the consistency and impact of players throughout the year.

Our 1st XI, 2nd XI and 3rd XI seasons were then presented, each with their own challenges and highlights across the campaign. Best & Fairest awards were presented to Ammaar Qutbi (1st XI), joint 2nd XI winners George Eaves and Matteo Bell, and Anzor Yousuf (3rd XI).

The club’s major awards were also presented, with Justin Altus receiving the Mick Wills Keeping Award, Laura Newton and Mick D’Cruz awarded the Dawn Thornton Award, Shehab Ahmed receiving the Peter Bell Memorial Award, and Ammaar Qutbi named Jim Bailey Club Champion.

The night concluded with the announcement of the Team of the Year, led by captain Lauren Gourlay, recognising the top performers across all grades.

A strong season across the board, with the club continuing to build and improve heading into next season. Thank you to everyone involved in the 2025/26 season.
