Aspley Swimming Club

Club nights are the best nights. So good to have all our swimmers back in the pool. Still have space for a few more if your kids are keen to give it a try!

Diving Off the Blocks Update:

Aim: Maintain highest safety standards and ensure alignment with Department of Education and Royal Life Saving Society Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations.

Firstly I would like to say a massive thankyou to everyone that has understood the diving requirements and the paperwork that we are working through. Cartia Balladone (Aspley State School Principal) has been supportive in working with Aspley Swimming Club and Swim Solutions to get swimmers diving safely from the blocks or waters edge.

Can you please discuss this with your swimmers to save any disappointment on Sunday before their first race.
Aspley Swim Club members wishing to use the dive blocks or dive from the edge of the pool must complete a competency workshop delivered by Swim Solutions.
• Other external competencies are recognised in principle but not accepted for 2026 due to this being the first implementation year.

We have been given a directive that only certified/endorsed individuals use the dive blocks and pool edge for head-first diving at club nights or club events.

On Sunday (11th October) we will have a dive MARSHALL that will write on the swimmers hands if they have been certified by Swim Solutions.
Simple B for blocks (they can dive from)
S for standing (diving next to the blocks)
If a swimmer does not have these written from a dive MARSHALL they will then start in the water until they are deemed competent by swim solutions.

We are working with swim solutions on holding some dive clinics throughout the term. Depending on numbers we will work with swim solutions to offer 3 clinics before club night on Week 2, 4 and 6. We will put out a survey shortly to see who would like to attend a dive clinic.

The cost to attend a clinic will be approximately $10 (per session depending on numbers) and for learn to swim, 3 clinics is suggested. Swim Solutions cannot guarantee that all swimmers will be deemed competent by the conclusion of the clinics but that is their goal.

Looking forward to the season ahead and once again I appreciate your understanding.

Whoever at Samford Swim Club wrote this, you have many talents! 😆

Of course, the situation may change if lightning appears; so if you'd just prefer to hedge your bets, keep your frizzing hair away from the public eye, and want to enjoy the night watching Ted Lasso, please email [email protected]
