Senior Men’s Coaching Opportunities for 2027

Are you ready to lead a proud 120+ year old club with a passionate community, and one of the strongest junior pathways in the Adelaide Footy League?

Athelstone FC is now opening applications for A Grade and B Grade Senior Men’s Coaches positions for the 2027 season.

At Athelstone you’ll step into an Adelaide Footy League Division 1 club with modern facilities, a thriving junior program, and strong supporter base. This is your chance to develop your game plan upon an already strong playing group and community.

We’re seeking a coach who brings:
- A structured game plan and training strategies to support implementation
- Clear communication across players, staff, and supporters
- Proven coaching experience and accreditation (or willingness to undertake accreditation)
- Confidence, energy and a passion to build something special

Playing or non playing coaches are welcome.

🔵⚪️SANFL LEAGUE DEBUT⚪️🔵

(Belated) Congratulations to Raggies junior James Van Wyk who made his, somewhat unusual, SANFL League debut for North Adelaide last weekend.

James played his junior footy at the Raggies starting in the U7 back in 2012. From there he progressed through the age grades, often playing in grades higher than his allotted age group. In 2022 he began playing at Norwood in their U16 team whilst still playing juniors at AFC. In 2023 he made his senior debut and in Round 7 made his A Grade debut against Henley at Henley - a tough assignment. Since then James has only played a handful of games at the Raggies when he wasn't selected at Norwood in their U18 or Reserves team. This year he moved to North Adelaide where his 198cm frame has seen him dominating the ruck contests in the reserve competition.

Last weekend, after playing a full game in the North Adelaide reserves against South Adelaide getting nearly 30 hit-outs and 16 disposals, a late withdrawal from the League team resulted in James being called up to play his second game of the day and thus also making his League debut. Certainly circumstances worth of a quiz night question.
