“When I started as a solo artist, I was a female Black singer in my forties with no money and few prospects for gigs. Still, I kept a ‘never give up’ spirit.
Part of my spiritual practice is to change poison into medicine, to transform roadblocks through positivity. The force of my positivity pushed the discriminatory ‘ isms’ standing in my way.
We all have it within our power to make decisions and take actions that elevate us. Every day, we express who we are, and who we wish to become, through our thoughts, words and deeds. Choose the positive path in everything you do. Spread positivity and kindness. That’s the way.
My legacy is that I stayed on course, from beginning to the end..because I believed in something inside of me.”

The moon & the sun play a pivotal role in the Hatha yoga tradition.
The ancient practice of Hatha yoga is based on the idea that our physical bodies are connected to and affected by the cosmic energies around us. That’s why paying attention to how these powerful forces can shape our lives is essential.
The sun is a source of life, providing us with energy, strength and vitality. It’s associated with our masculine energies, fire and power and represents the active principle in yoga practice. We can tap into a profound source of creative power by harnessing this energy through different practices and especially through pranayama techniques like kumbhaka.
The moon is the mind. It represents the feminine energy and inner lunar light. This energy helps us access our intuition, stillness and restful presence and we can harness and balance the energy of the moon through different pranayama techniques, like Chandra bedhana.
So next time you’re practising, take a moment to reflect on how these cosmic energies can help you become stable and balanced both on and off the mat.
The sun and moon are potent symbols representing the potential to find balance in our lives, no matter the challenges we face.

Bob Marley was once asked if there was a perfect woman. He replies :
Who cares about perfection?
Even the moon is not perfect, it is full of craters.
The sea is incredibly beautiful, but salty and dark in the depths.
The sky is always infinite, but often cloudy.
So, everything that is beautiful isn't perfect, it's special.
Therefore, every woman can be special to someone.
Stop being "perfect", but try to be free and live, doing what you love, not wanting to impress others!
