Not the ending we were hoping for, with our Intersport Ayr AU U19 going down to Brothers in Sunday’s Grand Final.

But what a season from this group of young men.

To make it all the way to the Grand Final is something to be incredibly proud of and these boys have represented the Burdekin Roosters with plenty of heart all season.

A huge thank you to our coaching and support staff for the countless hours you’ve put into this team and to the families, supporters and Burdekin Roosters Old Boys & Supporters who have been behind them every step of the way. We cannot believe the support shown on Sunday for this team, it was a sea of blue and red in the crowd which truly means everything to our Rooster family.

Finally to our U19 boys, hold your heads high. A Grand Final loss hurts, but it doesn’t take away from what you achieved together in 2026.

We are so proud of you all ❤️🤍💙

Rest up and here’s to 2027! 🐓

It’s been 25 years since a Burdekin U19s side last lined up in a Grand Final, so we want to see plenty of red, white and blue making the trip up to get behind the boys!

What a special Father’s Day morning for our Burdekin U19s on Sunday as they prepared for their Grand Final 💙

The boys hit the fields with five Burdekin Roosters Old Boys coming along to share a few words of wisdom ahead of the big one.

John Nash, Thomas Lammon, Mark Watson, Evan Chapman and Kurt Olsen were all part of the 2001 U19 Grand Final Premiership side 🏆

And 25 years later, our U19s are back in the Grand Final!

Making it even more special, John is now our U19 Assistant Coach and Leaguesafe, while Thomas is our U19 FAO. From playing in the Grand Final together in 2001 to now helping guide the next generation of Roosters in 2026 💙❤️🤍

A huge thank you also to our Old Boys - Speedy, Charlie Cole and Barry Henaway, for putting on a sausage sizzle for the boys after training.
