Client Testimony: Working with Dave has been a paradigm shift in how I exist and move in my body. When I first started training with Dave I had a number of structural issues and asymmetries stemming from my pectus excavatum and scoliosis.
While I was unaware of many of the structural imbalances at the beginning, bringing awareness and correction to these asymmetries and structural imbalances over time through training functional patterns has provided me many benefits. The improvements in gait and posture most notably have given me a greater sense of confidence, more control and connection with my body and a deeper appreciation for my physicality. Functional patterns has given me a whole new language to understanding my body and addressing dysfunctions I wasn’t aware of but were hindering my physical performance.
Having trained different modalities of movement and mobility training before FP, I quite quickly understood what made Functional Patterns a step above the rest. The attention to detail and corrective techniques/exercises used helped to unlock whole lines of tissue and channels of movement I was unaware I wasn’t accessing which has been fundamental in producing changes to my gait and posture. I began functional patterns with a healthy level of skepticism towards posture and biomechanics training. I heard the same old stories that you can’t train biomechanics and that the best posture is the next posture or that it’s just about remembering to hold a “good” posture. I’ve learnt that improving biomechanics takes A LOT of work and it’s easier to dismiss it as fear mongering rather than put in the time and effort required to understand and apply the principles of functional patterns.
I’m deeply grateful for the work I’ve done with Dave in helping me to achieve postural and gait improvements that I get to bring with me into every day of life.“

Our Human Biomechanics Specialist producing yet another phenomenal change for his client. Changing a person’s gait is the holy grail of training which is why you don’t see many others accomplish it.
Before/afters like this make it easier to highlight why we advise our clientele in the beginning to pull back on any other forms of activity they might be doing until we can address their mechanics. Even walking would be a damaging exercise if the mechanics of each step are faulty as is shown in the before.

Before working with Bronte, my health had been steadily declining for ~5 years. Amongst many other approaches I tried physiotherapy, chiropractic, and 18 months of private Pilates - yet my symptoms continued to worsen, and Multiple Sclerosis was suspected.
Training with Bronte was the first time I was given practical education and tools I could apply in my daily life to manage my symptoms. Sessions worked on improving my global movement patterns, addressing my entire system, not just individual symptoms. With circadian alignment, diet, implementing FP basics at home and training 2 x’s week with Bronte at FP Perth, my nervous system began to regulate, and I had rapid, consistent improvement in my pain and MS.”

Client testimonial: “I was diagnosed with an array of health issues, such as, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, TMJ disorder, IBS, and experienced cranial misalignments and tension headaches. I was basically bedridden, unable to run, walk normal distances, eat more than 1 meal a day and complete daily life tasks without experiencing complete exhaustion and pain. I had to visit the chiro 1-2 times per week to function the bare minimum. I had a surgical palate expansion surgery - this helped open up my airways and released some tension in my neck, head and improved my fatigue. After this, I could function the bare minimum without the chiropractor. I then started functional patterns, unsure if I could handle it or not. It was a slow burn, and over time (6 months of 1 session per week) - Xanthe worked on unravelling the curvature and scoliosis in my spine and unwinding the twisting in my body. Each week, I slowly feel more and more positive progression. My daily pain and discomfort levels have now gone from a 9 to a 4-5. I can now:

I’ve had kyphosis since childhood, and as I got older the thoracic pain made walking and standing for long periods difficult. Sedentary office work made things much worse. For five years I did clinical Pilates with a physiotherapist. It helped a little in the moment, but the relief never lasted.
Things worsened even further after a long recovery from an eye injury, when I had to sleep at a 45-degree angle for several months. My back and neck pain became constant, and I was very weak — my muscles were practically non-existent.
I discovered Functional Patterns on Instagram, and for the first time I felt like I had finally found something that might actually be effective. I bought the online program and started training at home. The pain reduced noticeably, so I booked an appointment with Daryl — and the difference was immediate. I became stronger, my pain disappeared, and I could go hiking and truly enjoy being active again.
Also, a bonus was the emotional recovery that happened alongside the physical work. In the first few sessions I had to wear safety glasses because I realised I had trauma-triggered reaction by carabiners on stretched ropes — a leftover from my eye injury. Through the training I gradually rebuilt my confidence and sense of safety, and my reactions faded.

Shereen, 65 years old struggling with Migraines, neck pain & Osteoporosis. After 1 year of training Functional Patterns, she is no longer considered osteoporotic, as confirmed with bone density testing.
“When I first started functional patterns, I was experiencing migraines every 6 weeks, with every 3rd migraine being severe, including blurred vision, vomiting and being bed ridden until it passed. I used to also feel a lot of tension and pain in my neck and shoulders 3/10. I noticed my posture was drooping, with a rounded upper back and forward shoulders. I also struggled with coordinating my body when I first started training functional patterns.
