Why Strength Training = Injury Prevention πŸ’ͺπŸ›‘οΈ

It’s not just about getting stronger β€” it’s about staying on the field.
For youth athletes, strength training plays a huge role in reducing injuries by building a body that can handle the demands of sport.

βœ… Stronger muscles absorb force
Less stress on joints like knees and ankles
βœ… Better joint stability
Helps prevent things like rolled ankles and knee collapse
βœ… Improved movement technique
Teaches safe jumping, landing, and cutting
βœ… Balanced strength
Fixes weak areas that can lead to injury
βœ… Stronger tendons & ligaments
Makes the body more durable over time
βœ… Better control & coordination
Reduces awkward movements that cause injuries
βœ… Less fatigue = fewer mistakes
Stay stronger for longer during games

πŸ‘‰ Bottom line:
A stronger athlete is a more resilient athlete.
Train smart now, stay injury-free later.

WVAS tennis athletes recently attended the VRAS Tennis High Performance Day at Melbourne Tennis Centre 🎾

The day was packed with high-quality on-court hitting sessions led by Tennis Victoria coaches, providing athletes with valuable exposure to elite training environments.

A highlight of the day was hearing from two former academy athletes now competing on the professional circuitβ€”Amy Stevens - Barwon Sports Academy and Josh Charlton - Gippsland Sports Academy . Both shared insights into their journey through the tennis pathway and what it takes to reach the pro level.

An inspiring experience for our athletes as they continue to develop and pursue their tennis ambitions πŸ’ͺ
