A Spectacular Night Celebrating a Stellar Season
What a season for the Tiger Nation! Named Club of the Year, with four teams making the finals, three grand final appearances and two premiership cups, there was plenty to celebrate.

Club Five Dock provided the perfect setting, with players and partners dressed to the nines for a fantastic night celebrating the club’s success, culture and people.

Congratulations to all our award winners, with special recognition to four standout Tigers:

Life Member – Ryan ‘Bettsy’ Betts
Recognising years of grassroots dedication and embodying what it means to be a Tiger.

Masters Spirit Award – Andrew ‘Hitman’ Endicott
Always there to lend a hand, before training, on game day and whenever the club needs him.

Volunteer of the Year – Leon Berkelmens
Nothing is too big an ask for Leon. Thank you for everything you do for the club!

Tiger of the Year – Damien ‘Kouta’ Hughes
A hard worker on and off the field, and one of the most humble blokes you’ll ever meet.

A brilliant night celebrating an outstanding season and the people who make our club so special.

🏉 MASTERS NATIONAL CARNIVAL — WHAT A WEEK! 🐯

The week that just passed saw the Masters National Carnival held in Newcastle, and what a week it was! Great weather, great footy and, most importantly, a great time had by all.

We had a mighty showing of Tigers at the carnival, and it all kicked off with the opening night, where our very own Tiger family was honoured on the national stage.

These awards couldn’t have gone to two more worthy people — the heart and soul of AFL Masters and our club.

What an absolute treat it was to see this footy power couple recognised and honoured on a national scale. The nation finally got to see what we at the Tigers get to see every day — the passion, dedication and love they have for the game, our club and the people around it.

And the awards didn’t stop there!

🔥 Mick “Magic” Hatton was selected to represent the Indigenous Team against the Allies.

🔥 Our very own Minnsy was selected in the Allies team.

🔥 Andrew “Whitey” White took out All-Australian honours, doing it while carrying an injury — an outstanding effort!

We also had a fantastic showing of Tigers across all divisions, with some of our own taking home National Championship honours! 🏆

What an absolute cracker of a carnival. The club couldn’t be prouder of every single Tiger who pulled on the jumper, turned up and gave it a red-hot crack.

There are far too many great moments to mention them all, so here are a few choice shots from the carnival. 📸

Next time you see these boys around the club, grab an ear and give them a massive congratulations! They’ve done the Tigers proud. 🐯💪

And a special shout-out to everyone who represented the Tigers, whether on the field, on the sidelines or behind the scenes. Carnivals like this don’t happen without the people who make up our great footy family.

What a great weekend for the Tigers Football Club! 🐯💙💛

We played in two Grand Finals, with both teams giving everything they had.

Division 3 played gallantly and were pipped at the post in a thrilling contest. Then came Division 5, where we witnessed an incredible back-and-forth battle. After a tight opening half, the ‘Ressies’ turned it on in the third and fourth quarters, taking control and dominating when it mattered most. They finished the job in style, taking home the flag! 🏆

And the celebrations didn’t stop there!

At the AFL Sydney Awards, Balmain Tigers proudly took home the Club Championship — an extremely coveted award that we can hold with immense pride. It’s a wonderful recognition of the hard work, commitment and spirit across our entire Tigers community, and a reflection of what our club stands for.

We were also incredibly proud to have three Masters players finish in the Top 10 in the MVP race:

- Damien ‘Kouta’ Hughes
- Elee ‘Lebbo’ Boustani
- Andrew ‘Hitman’ Endicott
Congratulations to all three!

Across our other teams, Tigers players also featured in the Men’s and Women’s Top 10s, highlighting the incredible depth of talent across our club.

A special congratulations to our individual award winners:

- Jacqueline McCann — Women’s Division 3 Leading Goal Kicker, 25 goals
- Brendan Doyle — Division 3 Leading Goal Kicker, 44 goals

After an incredible season, the ladies have earned their shot at premiership glory. Now it’s time for the whole Tigers community to get behind them, pack the sidelines and bring the noise!

From Grand Final heartbreak to premiership glory, club championships and individual honours, it’s been a season that showcases exactly what makes our club so special.

🏉 25 GAMES — CHARLES ‘CHAS’ DODD 🖤💛

From a few high school games to becoming one of the club’s most passionate clubmen, Chas Dodd has hit the 25-game milestone in black and gold.

Chas returned to AFL in 2025 after a long stint away from the game — and with the Rozelle Parklands conveniently built next door to his house, he figured it would be rude not to have a run. The rest, as they say, is history.

A fiercely competitive forward, Chas brings plenty of energy on the field and is always up for a contest. Off the field, you’ll find him first to the Cricketers after training, where apparently some of the most important football lessons are learned — particularly if there’s a Badge Draw going.

His injury record is surprisingly clean, although he did break a finger last year and somehow managed to keep playing with it broken. It was only two months later that Jarvis pointed it out. Commitment or poor medical awareness? We’ll let you decide.

When asked who he supports, there was no hesitation: “There is only one team. Balmain AFC.”

His most memorable game came when he bagged three goals while being marked by Pooch — although Chas reckons he let himself down. In his words, it should have been 10.

And when it comes to teammates, Lundy gets the nod, with Chas admitting that his positivity is infectious.

A passionate clubman, ultra-competitive forward and an all-round great bloke — congratulations on 25 games, Chas! 🖤💛

Here’s to many more — and hopefully a few more trips to the pub after training. 🍻

Great hit out at the Macarthur Wombats - Footy for Fun , mini carnival on the weekend.
Giving those lads who are heading to the Nationals a much needed go around. As always the Tigers represented and was one of the teams to return to the carnival.
Always a pleasure to play with the Wombats and a really well run day.

💯 WADE “SPARKY” RUGG — 50 GAMES! 🐯

What a feat, and what a way to celebrate it!

Wade “Sparky” Rugg brought up his 50th game for the Tigers in a do-or-die semi-final — and, in true Sparky fashion, put his body absolutely on the line.

Unfortunately, that meant putting his collarbone on the line too… broken in three places — or who knows, maybe there were a few more pieces floating around! 😂

But that’s the guy we’re talking about. He had to be dragged from the field, and somehow the sting of semi-final defeat seemed to hurt even more than the pulsating pain of his injury.

A true club man.

Sparky started playing Masters for Balmain and has always played footy for the right reasons — the mateship, the laughs and the chance to reset. The club has helped him through some tough times, and footy has been a great way to switch off, reconnect and enjoy being part of something bigger.

His love of AFL started with his Pop, who introduced him to the game in an all-league family. And when it comes to his team, there was only ever one choice — Collingwood, for Pop. 🖤🤍

He’s extremely proud of reaching 50 games for the Tigers, and rightly so. He describes the club as a great one, and this season as his strongest yet.

Ask Sparky about his favourite game and it’s always the Christmas Cracker — great competition, plenty of fun and, most importantly, a great bunch of mates.

50 games is a huge milestone, but for Sparky it’s about more than the number. It’s the mates, the club, the laughs, the tough times and the good times.

And apparently, it’s also about discovering just how many pieces a collarbone can break into and still try to stay on the field. 😂

Congratulations on 50 games, Sparky! A true Tiger, a true club man and one seriously tough bastard. 🐯💯

Here’s to many more — hopefully with slightly fewer broken bones!

As we all contemplate our semi-final appearance, and say goodbye to a great friend and smashing full-forward, Goose.

Everyone who played and supported our team on the weekend should be so proud of the effort they put in. There was nothing left in the tank when the siren blew.

Sure, on reflection, you can say we should have done this or done that, but as someone who watched the game from the sidelines, there was absolutely nothing else that could have been done. So proud of the Masters and the way the game was played. Everyone fired, everyone put in 110%, and there were second and third efforts everywhere. But unfortunately, we were just pipped at the post.

That’s footy, and that’s why you turn up every week to play in such great games.

Masters Footy, Mountain Style 🏉⛰️

The BALMAIN MASTERS headed west this weekend for a social hit-out against the Blue Mountains Masters — and, as always, we were welcomed with open arms, plenty of laughs and an absolute ripper of a BBQ! 🍖🍻

The footy was quality, the competition was friendly, and there was plenty of talent on display. But, as cliché as it sounds, footy was definitely the winner. 💪

It was also a great day for our social and comp players to get together, enjoy a run around, catch up with old mates and, importantly, sample a few of the local breweries’ finest offerings. 🍺

Huge thanks to the Blue Mountains Masters for another fantastic day of footy, food and friendship. We’ll be back! 🏉❤️

Great game of footy against Manly Masters on the weekend! 💪⚽️

Plenty of moments, plenty of memories, and plenty to be proud of — from Bettsy’s 200th, to D-Train’s ridiculous 8-second goal, to Dippers’ fend-off moments that had everyone talking. 😂🔥

But that’s what this team is about: individual moments can win a game, but it’s the team that makes those moments count. Everyone plays their part, everyone backs each other, and when it matters, we find a way.

A great hit-out against Manly, but now the real business starts. The road to the Granny starts now. 🏆

Time to get serious. Time to dig deep. Time to finish what we started.

One team. One goal. Granny bound. 💙

Round 8 | Tigers vs Dingoes 🐯🏉

The Tigers headed down to the Shire this weekend to take on the Dingoes in what promised to be a tough contest, with the Fretwell Cup on the line. As expected, the Dingoes proved to be a quality opposition, and the match was a hard-fought contest played in the true spirit of Masters footy.

While the Tigers didn't come away with the win, there were plenty of positives to take from the game. Facing a club with years of finals experience provided valuable lessons, and the team will be better for the challenge. The effort, determination, and sportsmanship shown by both sides made for a great day of Masters football.
