OWEN BROWN
Tonight the Barellan Two Blues are very proud to recognise someone who has been a huge part of our club and our community
Owen Brown, our 2026 Life Member.
Owen’s involvement with the Two Blues goes back many years, and anyone who knows Owen knows that when he gets behind something, he gives it everything he’s got.
There are plenty of stories we could tell about Owen, but one of our favourites involves his football jumper.
Apparently, Evelyn, Owen’s mum, was the only person trusted to wash his jumper — because no one else could apparently do a good enough job.
But jokes aside, Owen’s contribution to Barellan sport has been enormous.
He has played a huge role in keeping both football and netball thriving in Barellan, giving his time, knowledge and support to help ensure our club continues to have a strong future.
Owen has also always been keen to see our younger kids involved and learning. He takes the time to teach our young players how to run the boundary and how to throw the ball back in, passing on his knowledge and helping the next generation become part of our sporting community.
And if you’ve ever wondered who is sitting on the sidelines during the senior football games, keeping track of absolutely everything — it’s Brownie!
Every game, Owen records the senior stats.
While the rest of us are watching the footy, cheering, questioning the umpire’s decisions or wondering how someone managed to miss an open goal, Owen is quietly keeping track of the numbers.
It’s another example of the work Owen does behind the scenes — the jobs that don’t always get the spotlight, but are so important to keeping a club running.
Owen represents so much of what makes the Barellan Two Blues special — loyalty, commitment, mateship and a genuine passion for our community.
