🛼 Wairoa what a good turnout!
It was lovely to see so many people coming along, including about half a dozen locals I met at the last roller disco a couple of years ago. It's always nice to reconnect and see familiar faces on the road.

Unfortunately, one adult participant who had been doing so well and making great progress throughout badly injured her ankle at the very end. 😔 Injuries are rare at Skatescool, but unfortunately, they can happen.

The good news is that she has already declared that it's not going to put her off skating! 💪🛼 Wishing her a speedy recovery!

As for me, I'm still in Wairoa! After my brake failure (see BandScool ArtScool - Paws on Tour), I've been a bit stranded in my caravan but my van repairs should be done in the next couple of days. Next another big long drive towards Waipuk via Napier.

Was nice to be back in Turangi, we like this little town, the size of the hall and the good number of keen skaters 🛼💙 Next we have quite a ride all the way to Wairoa, been a while since we held a RD there!

🛼🎤 SKATE & SING — WHAT A DAY! 🎤🛼
A collaboration between SkateScool Taupō with Kazna and BandScool with Brigitte — and our first Skate & Sing was a BIG success! ❤️
14 kids! 7 songs! 6 hours!
Skating, singing, looping, NZSL, choreography… and a whole lot of fun!
They came in as skaters and somehow, by the end of the day, we had a mini mini mini musical ready to perform! 😄
There were cats 🐱, dogs 🐶, animals, songs they didn't know when they arrived, words being looped, choruses sung together, sign language moves and impromptu skate routines.
And then they performed it all for their parents for about 15 minutes!
The reaction from the parents was pretty special — especially the “Amazing that you managed to put all that together in only a day!”
It was definitely hard work behind the scenes… but watching those 14 kids pull it all together was SO worth it. 🛼🎶❤️

After all the times spent by the lake in Mangakino over the years, we finally held a Roller Disco!🛼😊
While we could have done with a few more people for the size of the hall, it was still a great afternoon — and definitely one to add to the Tour list.

🛼 MOKAU IS BACK ON THE LIST! 🎉

Mokau had actually been taken off our tour list after the last disco, about 3 years ago, it didn’t quite have enough people…

But this time, you showed up! 😁🛼
So Mokau is officially back on the SKATESCOOL map!

And what a cool disco in a cool little hall and a very nice and helpful manager ❤️

There were quite a few adults skating, including some brave oldies who hadn’t been on skates for YEARS… and decided it was time to give it another go! There was also a lovely teacher who got better and better at skating as the disco went on — it was wonderful to see!

And there were LOTS of boys — definitely more than we usually get at our discos! 🛼😁

Taranaki #4 Inglewood was packed and made up for the low adult participation in Stratford, Opunake and Oakura with 15% adults. The hall is very cute and it was a lot of fun. Enjoyed spending time in this little town this week, especially in Karo Park, a dog place perfect for Cachou 🐈‍⬛

Taranaki #3 was really great 🛼😁 So nice doing Oakura again! About 3 years since the last time. Great turn out but again not a record of adults whats going on Taranaki adults?😜 Loved spending time in Okato Domain this week, quiet and interesting for Mr Cachou 🐈‍⬛
Next Inglewood which will complete our month in the Naki.

Taranaki #2 📍Always a pleasure to spend time in Opunake 🗻🌊 Definitely have my favs spots. Roller Disco was at the High school this time, can tell people have been skating since the last time we were there 18 months ago. Not one adult though 🧐 which is now extremely rare!

Taranaki #1 A pumping Roller Disco in Stratford. Higher skating level than the last we were here 👏🛼 Love the venue and spending time in naki South. Won't beat any adult participation record this time but hey, next time!
