‼️ BIG news for the Seahawks family today, and it's about someone who deserves every bit of it.
Karen Green has been named one of the Top 8 finalists in Bunnings' 2026 Legend of the Tongs - a national campaign honouring the volunteers who are the absolute lifeblood of community footy. Out of hundreds of nominations from clubs right across the country, Karen made the cut. Eight finalists, and one of them is ours. 👏👏🙌🙌🙌
If you've ever been to Hanging Rock on game day, chances are Karen was behind the canteen — rain, hail, shine, freezing cold Saturday and Sunday mornings, all of it. She's the one who shows up early, stays late, and does it all without ever asking for a thank you. That's exactly the kind of volunteer this award was built to recognise, and honestly, we can't think of anyone more deserving. 🙏🦅
As a finalist, Karen's now heading to the AFL Footy Festival and the Toyota AFL Grand Final, where she'll cook alongside AFL great Matthew Richardson and go head-to-head for the title of Legend of the Golden Tongs - plus a $25,000 Bunnings prize that would go straight back into our club. 👏👏
Clubs like ours don't run on funding and fixtures alone - they run on people like Karen. This is a huge moment for her, and just as huge for everyone at Batemans Bay Seahawks.
