đź‘‹ Meet one of the special people behind the Cityfit story!
As part of our 40 Stories over 40 Days celebration, we’re shining a spotlight on the people who have helped shape Cityfit over the past 40 years.
This time, we’re doing something a little different. ❤️
We’re celebrating the staff members who have been part of the Cityfit family — the people who have been there behind the scenes, on the gym floor, at reception, in classes and everywhere in between.
These are the people who have watched Cityfit grow, shared countless moments with our members and colleagues, and played their own unique part in our 40-year story.
Today, we’re putting the spotlight on Vanessa! Who has been part of the Cityfit story.
We asked Vanessa a few special questions about their time at Cityfit, their favourite memories, the people they’ve met along the way, and what being part of the Cityfit story has meant to them.
Here’s her Cityfit story…
❤️What area(s) or department(s) did you work in at Cityfit?
Group fitness initially, then also reception.
❤️Do you have any favourite memories or standout moments from your time at Cityfit?
I loved teaching BodyBalance on a Saturday afternoon. Whenever I hear the music from the releases at that time, it takes me back. Every Saturday was special.
❤️What was your favourite thing about working at Cityfit?
There were so many... variety, positivity, the people, excellent facilities (including the coffee machine) but most of all, it kept me fit!
❤️What have you been up to since leaving Cityfit?
We moved to Goondiwindi for two years while my husband worked on a large project upgrading the Newell Highway. We then decided to settle in Dubbo and I worked my way back into teaching after being in and out the NSW system and having the kids. I am now teaching fulltime and the little ones you might remember are now 14, 12 and 10! I grew up in Bathurst and still have family there so we are often visiting town.

đź‘‹ Meet Linda!!
As part of our 40 Stories over 40 days to celebrate 40 years, we’re shining a spotlight on the people who have been part of the Cityfit journey.
Today, it’s Linda's turn to share her story — her memories, her experiences and what Cityfit has meant to her over the years.
Here’s Linda's story…
đź’šHow long have you been a member at Cityfit, and what first brought you through our doors?
Not sure how long I've been a member, maybe 2015? The location in town is great. Not too far to drive. Great variety of sessions, equipment upstairs and access to the pool.
đź’šWhat's your favourite memory or experience you've had at Cityfit?
No favourite memory. I enjoy everything - event the SHAPES class which can be challenging.
đź’šHow has being a member at Cityfit positively impacted your health, fitness, or lifestyle?
I bushwalk most weekends, do walking holidays, so all the training I do at Cityfit keeps me fit for these activities. AquaFitness is excellent training for kayaking and dragon boating. Doing "hundreds" of squats and BodyBalance helps me with my gardening. Also good friendships have developed with other participants in the classes.
đź’šWho or what has made the biggest difference to your experience at Cityfit?
I can't name any one trainer. Each trainer brings their own personality to the class and such a wonderful varied program with lots of thought gone into each session - you never know what you're going to be doing next but that's what I like. The classes work all parts of the body. It's lovely to see the welcoming smiles at Reception too!
đź’šIn one sentence, what does Cityfit mean to you?
Fitness, fun, and friendships.

đź‘‹ Meet Tegan!!
As part of our 40 Stories over 40 days to celebrate 40 years, we’re shining a spotlight on the people who have been part of the Cityfit journey.
Today, it’s Tegan's turn to share her story — her memories, her experiences and what Cityfit has meant to her over the years.
Here’s Tegan's story…
đź’šHow long have you been a member at Cityfit, and what first brought you through our doors?
I have been a member at Cityfit for 12 years. I wanted to lose weight and gain strength.
đź’šWhat's your favourite memory or experience you've had at Cityfit?
My favourite memory/ experience at Cityfit was when I did my first box jump in an FXT challenge. I remember looking over at Jasmine and Kellie, they both yelled out "Did you just jump?".
đź’šHow has being a member at Cityfit positively impacted your health, fitness, or lifestyle?
When I joined Cityfit my aim was to lose weight and gain strength. I have lost 33kg and I can push a sled three times my body weight. I don't find training a chore anymore, most of the time it's the highlight of my day (even though I complain 90% of the time).
đź’šWho or what has made the biggest difference to your experience at Cityfit?
I couldn't just pick one person, one class or one community member who has marked the biggest difference to my experience at Cityfit, so instead I've made a list (see slides). Every staff member has had an impact on my training, my progress and most importantly my experience over the past few years.
đź’šIn one sentence, what does Cityfit mean to you?
Cityfit is my second home.
