Congratulations to Ross Obrien for becoming BFNC's latest Life Member.
Ross first came to the club on permit from Lexton in 1984, before joining the club permanently in 1985.
With his matinee-idol good looks, a telescopic reach and versatility, Ross was soon a fan favourite and a lock in the senior team throughout the late 80s and 90s.
His commitment to the club wasn’t only on the field, with Ross joining the social and general committee and coaching the U18s in the mid 90s.
After many lean years in the Ballarat League, Ross finally found on-field success as the club moved CHFL, culminating in the 1995 premiership.
Ross spent a decade at Skipton, before returning to the Crows and picking up where he left off; filling the role of runner, team manager, assistant coach of the reserves and U18s and bar manager.
It’s people like Ross who are the life blood of grass root community clubs and keep them going year after year. Good on ya Ross “Jack” Obrien.
