But it's that same quality that has made him a complete, well-rounded grappler and a training partner that lifts everyone around him.

This month we celebrated 5 years since officially opening the doors. What a journey it's been.

On the day we awarded some well-earned belts. Ethan and Sam receiving their blue belts, and Gus, Kobe and Nathan their purple belts.

Mark got his purple belt yesterday.

When he said "Jiu Jitsu is hard," the whole room felt it.

Because it is. And that's what makes it worth doing.

Over a decade on and off the mats.

Life gets in the way. You stop. You start again. You wonder if the time away set you back.

But Nic kept coming back.

Last night he earned his purple belt. And what he said to the class afterwards said it all.

Keep rocking up.
It's not a race.
Just do your best.

When I mentioned Ted trains with people half his age, he was quick to correct me.
"A third!"

He wasn't wrong.
Forty years apart in age.
Earning the same belt on the same day.

That's the beauty of jiu jitsu.

It doesn't care how old you are.
It doesn't care where you start.
It just asks you to keep showing up, to put in the work and to trust the process.

Luc and Ted did exactly that.
