🖤🤍 National Volunteer Week – Spotlight on Volunteers 🤍🖤
This week, we shine a very special spotlight on some of our youngest volunteers… our incredible junior players 💫
Each week, under the guidance of our wonderful Auskick Coordinator, Koryn, these young leaders give up their time to help run drills and stations for our Auskick program. Bringing energy, enthusiasm and a genuine love for the game, they create a fun and welcoming environment for our youngest Magpies.
Their impact doesn’t go unnoticed – the feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the confidence and joy they bring to every session.
This is what community football is all about… kids helping kids 🙌
The best kind of role modelling.
We could not be more proud of this group and the example they are setting both on and off the field.
Thank you for everything you do 💙

🖤🤍🩵National Volunteers Week - Celebrating our Club Champions🖤🤍🩵
This week we’re shining a light on the incredible people who keep our club running — and today, we’re proud to recognise Lesley, our amazing Canteen Manager and Club Secretary.
From early mornings setting up the canteen, to keeping everyone organised behind the scenes, Lesley is at the heart of our club. Whether it’s a warm toastie on a cold morning, a friendly face at the counter, or the countless hours spent ensuring things run smoothly off-field — Lesley does it all.
Our players, families and volunteers benefit every single week from Lesley’s dedication, organisation, and willingness to always step up when needed.
Community clubs don’t run without people like Lesley — and we are so lucky to have her.
Thank you, Lesley, for everything you do for the Magpies Juniors. We truly appreciate you.

1️⃣. Childrens Tumour Foundation- The Childrens Tumour Foundation helps support people and families affected by a disease called Neurofibromatosis. This disease affects about 15,000 Australians. May is NF Awareness month and this money could be used to help support people who have NF by providing them with support. This support includes meetups with others who have NF, and possible referrals to drs within the Canberra region where a knowledge of NF is available.
2️⃣. Woden Giants Softball Club - This club is growing in numbers and provides a fun, inclusive environment where kids build confidence, teamwork, and lifelong skills through sport. A $500 donation would help them purchase essential equipment and keep registration costs affordable for all.
3️⃣. Magpies Junior Football Club - This is a mixed AFL club for boys and girls in Belconnen, supporting players from Auskick (5 years) through to Under 17s in the AFL Canberra junior competition. They focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and creating a safe, welcoming environment for all children.
In August 2025, they hosted our inaugural Youth Mental Health Round, an initiative we are passionate about continuing each season to raise funds for youth mental health charities and build awareness across our community. A $500 donation would directly support this initiative by helping support and celebrate players by purchasing a new milestone banner to recognise players reaching their 25, 50, and 100 game milestones across all teams, as well as new club signage banners to use at our home ground games throughout the season.
