There was a rather special confluence of events for Belmont Croquet Club over this weekend 19-20/9/26 with Victorian Croquet Association tournaments held at the .

🏆 Firstly, congratulations to Belmont Life Member Stephen Forster, who took out the 2026 Victorian Brian Reither Challenge — another wonderful achievement to add to his many croquet accolades. 👏

Concurrently, two other Belmont members, Siebe Dekleva and Janelle Morris, were competing in the High Handicap 16–18 Tournament.

And the results?
🥇 Winner – Siebe Dekleva
🥈 Runner-up – Janelle Morris

Stephen, along with Kevin and Cherry Bluff, were instrumental in introducing Siebe and Janelle to the AC bug - patiently nurturing and guiding our developing skills. (Yes, with mild hubris, this author is also one of the placegetters.)

And so this weekend, the story came full circle — the coach and AC recruits were all ‘on the podium’.

A great result for Belmont Croquet Club and a pleasant reminder of how knowledge, encouragement and a little passion for this wonderfully addictive, sometimes challenging game, can produce such a delightful outcome.

Today Thursday, 17/9/26 Belmont kicked off the Association Croquet Season 2026-27 by holding their first competition - South Barwon Shield - an Advantage Doubles competition - 3 games with partners changing after each timed game of 1½ hours.

It was great to see regional members from Eastern Park Croquet Club and a hike down the road from Colac Mallet Sports Club Inc.

🥇 Winner: Malcolm Biddle (Eastern Park) with 3 wins – 33 hoops
🥈 Runner-up: Jan Gray (Belmont) with 3 wins – 25 hoops

Feeling a little under the weather, Cherry Bluff, Club AC Coordinator called in her close relative Kevin Bluff to deputise 😄 — and may I say he excelled on the day - being Tournament Manager, Referee, Coach, Scorer and importantly, Afternoon Tea preparation. 👍

A big thank you to everyone who played, helped and contributed to such an enjoyable day.👏

And the perfect weather was icing on the cake!

2026 Victorian AC Men's Singles Championship
