It is with enormous sadness that we can now share the news that we lost one of our own on Saturday, 12 September 2026.
Phil Tregurtha was not simply a member of the Ben Lomond Alpine Resort team โ he was part of our Ben Lomond Alpine Resort family and the Ben Lomond Community.
Phil joined our team in 2023, but our connection with him went back much further. We first got to know Phil in 2016 when we were looking at taking on the business at Ben Lomond. From those early days, he was always willing to lend a hand, share his knowledge and help solve whatever problem was put in front of him.
And that was Phil.
โThe fixer.โ
A jack of all trades who somehow seemed to know how to repair, build or work out just about anything.
To some of our team he was a mentor, to others he was affectionately known as โGrandpaโ, and to all of us he was more than a mate, he was family.
Phil spent much of his life giving his time, skills and knowledge to others. His impact reached far beyond Ben Lomond through his teaching career, community organisations, dog training, kayaking, skiing, water-skiing and countless other ways in which he helped people throughout Tasmania.
We were incredibly fortunate to have spent time together as a team at our staff gathering only a couple of weeks ago. Those memories are now even more special.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Philโs wife Lindy, his children Callum and Gabriella, his family, friends and the many people whose lives he touched.
Men like Phil are few and far between.
Thank you for everything you gave to Ben Lomond, Phil. For the laughs, the knowledge, the friendship and for always being there when something needed fixing.
You were one of us, and you will be very sadly missed.
Vale Phil Tregurtha.
