The BSA is pleased to be able to offer some financial support to local mtb rider Alana Fletcher. Alana has several national titles to her name, including U19 Cyclocross champion.
After recently competing in the Netherlands, Alana is now off to Europe selected for the AusCycling MTB XCO European Development Camp. Alana will be racing in Germany and Czechia.
The campaign will see riders contest rounds of the UCI World Cup and UCI XCO Junior Series, as well as a UCI-level Czech MTB Cup round, offering exposure to some of the most competitive fields in racing.
Best of luck Alana.

They don’t stay BSA Junior Sports Stars for ever. They learn, train hard, work with great coaches and get supported by families and good people. In amongst this they set goals for themselves and commit to achieving them. They transform from Junior Sports Stars to elite athletes.
Congratulations on being awarded by the Bendigo Sports Star Committee.
Pat Eddy- cycling. January Monthly Recipient.
Jazy Roberts-golf. February Monthly Recipient.
Maddie Douglas-cycling. Scholarship Recipient.

It was all hands on deck for the BSA team today. At the Clubrooms we hosted 70 cyclists for breakfast after they completed various long distance rides as part of the Oppy weekend. Dress code was lycra and breakfast was cereal, egg and bacon rolls, sausages and baked beans washed down with tea or coffee. Audax members were very grateful for a hearty breakfast and generously compensated us for providing it. Special thanks to Paul, Beres, John, Roy, Daryl and Beth who had a very early start.
Meanwhile more BSA members and friends were selling sausages at Bunnings Epsom. A great result and more funds to support junior athletes.

The Bendigo Sports Star of the Year Gala is always a celebration of the amazing sporting prowess of local athletes. This year being the 60th anniversary was even more special and with past awarded athletes among the over 400 guests the scene was set for a great evening.
Many past BSA Junior Sports Stars we’re in attendance and many more apologies as they are competing around the globe.
I caught up with two young athletes that have been supported by BSA in the past twelve months.
Pole vaulter Jordyn Lewis was the January scholarship winner and wheelchair basketballer Harriet Caldwell was also awarded the May scholarship by the Bendigo Sports Star committee.
It’s so satisfying to see both of these talented athletes continue to excel in their chosen sports.
