The 2026 Champions IGA CVFL Grand Finals delivered two cracking contests at the QEO, with plenty of drama and history made along the way.

🟡⚫ UNDER 18s — WOORINEN BACK-TO-BACK! 🏆

What an absolute ripping contest!

With just seven minutes remaining, the scores were locked together and it was anyone’s game. But when the pressure was at its highest, Woorinen Youth Girls managed to steady late and hold their nerve to claim the Premiership and become back-to-back CVFL Under 18 Premiers!

Congratulations to the Tigers on another incredible achievement.

And what a season for our Runners-up, Strath Storm FNC. The Storm gave absolutely everything, fighting right to the final siren in a Grand Final that could have gone either way. You can be incredibly proud of the season you produced.

⚫️⚪ SENIORS — FIVE STRAIGHT FOR THE MAGPIES! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Then came the Seniors — a Grand Final between the two best teams of the 2026 season.

Official Golden Square Football & Netball Club and Castlemaine Football Netball Club have been almost inseparable all year, and once again there was nothing between them at the QEO.

At the major break, just three points separated the two sides.

With the rain coming down and tough conditions making every score difficult to come by, the Magpies found a way in the second half, kicking two crucial goals to create enough breathing space and secure another Premiership.

And with that, Castlemaine become five-time consecutive CVFL Premiers! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Congratulations to the Magpies on an extraordinary achievement.

Commiserations to Golden Square, who gave everything they had in another fiercely contested Grand Final. To finish the season as Minor Premiers is an outstanding effort.

From Round 1 through to the final siren last night, the passion, commitment and spirit shown across the competition has been outstanding.

Congratulations to our 2026 Premiers, Woorinen and Castlemaine.

And to every club who played a part in another memorable season — thank you.

A reminder for all spectators attending the CVFL Grand Finals tonight:

- No parking inside the QEO unless you are displaying a disability sticker
- No dogs permitted unless it is a support dog
- No BYO alcohol

If these guidelines are not adhered to or are met with a response of aggression, you will be asked top leave the venue and the matter will be referred to the league. You and/or the club that you are supporting will face possible fines and/or suspension from all AFL Central Victoria sanctioned events.

After an incredible season without a loss, the Tigers are chasing a place in CVFL history as they look to become the first-ever back-to-back Under 18 Premiers.

Standing in their way is the impressive Strathfieldsaye Storm, looking to write a chapter of their own in the CVFL record books.

The Tigers got the better of the Storm in their Semi Final clash two weeks ago, but tonight could be different story — and Strathfieldsaye will be determined to win the one that matters most.

With 2026 CVFL Best & Fairest winner Charli Conway leading the Tigers and 2025 CVFL Best & Fairest winner Scarlett Ward lining up for the Storm, there will be no shortage of star power on the QEO!

Expect a ding-dong battle from the opening bounce.

Golden Square deservedly got the chocolates in the Semi Final, but will that defeat have woken the giant that is Castlemaine?

What a thriller at the QEO!

Castlemaine Football Netball Club came into Friday night’s Champions IGA CVFL Senior Preliminary Final determined to bounce back from their Semi Final defeat to Golden Square, while Sandhurst Football Netball Club arrived full of confidence after their impressive win over Eaglehawk.

What followed was a tough, hard-fought contest from start to finish, with neither side willing to give an inch.

The Dragons held a narrow one-goal lead at half time, but the Magpies turned the game on its head in the third term, kicking two goals to take a slender lead into the final quarter.

Sandhurst fought desperately to regain control, but Castlemaine held their nerve to protect that precious one-goal advantage and claim a thrilling Preliminary Final victory!

The Magpies now advance to this Friday night’s Grand Final, where they will face Golden Square for the 2026 Champions IGA CVFL Senior Premiership.

Congratulations to both teams on an outstanding contest, and commiserations to Sandhurst after a fantastic season.

PRELIMINARY FINAL | UNDER 18s

What a night at the QEO! The magnificent spring weather provided the perfect backdrop for Friday night’s Champions IGA CVFL Under 18 Preliminary Final between Strath Storm FNC and Eaglehawk Football Netball Club.

It was a tight and hard-fought contest, with just two goals separating the sides at three-quarter time, with the Storm holding the advantage.

Strathfieldsaye stepped up when it mattered most, adding two more goals in the final term to run out 24-point winners and book their place in this Friday night’s Grand Final!

The Storm will now face defending Premiers Woorinen in what promises to be a cracking Grand Final at the QEO.

Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic contest and to Strathfieldsaye on earning their spot in the big one!
