This morning our Small Squad PT crew absolutely CRUSHED some PB’s on their Zercher Squats and Deadlifts at the gym🔥💪
And here’s the thing…
Most of these legends aren’t 20-year-old athletes chasing performance for a living. They’re everyday humans juggling work, kids/grandkids, stress, responsibilities, ailments, self-doubt and life. They just want to be strong for quality of life.
Week after week they keep showing up.
They keep backing themselves. We lift, we have fun, the sarcasm fly's, we support, we complain, we give stink eye and we celebrate. All these things are necessary 😆
They keep proving that strength is available to anyone who is willing to put in the work for it.
The biggest limitation is rarely age.
It’s the belief that we’re “too old”, “too unfit”, “too late” or the fear of what other people might think if we try.
Today was proof that the body is capable of so much more when the mind stops playing funny buggers. When we show up and find the joy in movement, the comradery in a group.
Proud is an understatement. ❤️
Not just because of the weight lifted… but because of the courage, consistency and belief being built underneath it all.

There’s something I secretly love about the sass, the side-eye, and the “you’re not my friend right now, Mars” comments mid-workout 😏
Because here’s the thing…
That’s not resistance.
That’s growth in disguise.
That moment where you question me, roll your eyes, or mutter something under your breath?
That’s you stepping outside your comfort zone. You just overcame something hard.
That’s you bumping up against your old limits and beliefs.
That’s you expanding what you thought you were capable of.
And it shows up differently for everyone…
For some — it’s full-blown attitude, a few colourful words, the bird, and a laser death stare that just about slices my head off💀😆
For others — it’s a giggle, a shake of the head, or a quiet “OMG Mars!”
But make no mistake…
Every single one of those responses is your inner self going,
“Whoa… we’re doing something challenging here.”
And I’m here for all of it.
Because that space is a space l've overcome myself many times.
And it's a space that continues to challenge everyone.
But it's a space that's not your enemy, and l know this.
It is a space that l can guide you to and through.
To hold space when it’s uncomfortable.
To meet them in the grit, the doubt, the need to withdraw or escape…
and guide them through to the other side.
Whether it’s in a workout or a coaching session —
you get to show up exactly as you are.
Sassy.
Tired.
Doubtful.
Determined.
Pi**ed off with life.
All of it.
And I’ll meet you there…
with a smile, a little bit of chaos, and maybe a lot of sass…
and just enough challenge to remind you what you’re capable of 🔥
Because around here?
We don’t avoid the hard… we face it.
We grow through what we go through and it's the most profoundly satisfying place to be.

✨𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟔 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 — 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤✨
Most people think they’re “stuck” or “unmotivated”…
But what I see, time and time again, is this:
👉 Your core needs aren’t being met.
When these are out of balance, your energy drops, your mind overworks, and life starts to feel heavier than it needs to.
Here’s what’s really going on underneath 👇
𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆
You need to feel safe and grounded. Without it, your nervous system stays on edge and you default to control, overthinking, or burnout.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
You need to feel seen, supported and understood. When this is missing, loneliness creeps in — even when you’re surrounded by people.
𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲
You need to feel valued and important. Without this, self-doubt gets louder and you start questioning your worth.
𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵
You need to evolve. If you’re not learning or expanding, you feel stuck… and that stagnation drains your energy fast.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
You need to give and make an impact. This is what brings meaning — without it, life can feel a bit empty or “what’s the point?”
𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺
You need choice, space and variety. Without these things, everything starts to feel restrictive, overwhelming, and out of alignment.

For all the mums out there carrying the invisible mental and emotional load of your kids…
remembering the snack days, the forms, the home work due dates, the feelings, the friendship battles, the fears…
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐛.
For all the parents navigating that constant tug-of-war between work and home…
replying to emails while making dinner, thinking about deadlines and the gazillion things you need to do at work, while sitting at sport or school events…
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐛.
For those supporting ageing parents while still raising children…
holding space for two generations at once, managing appointments, emotions, logistics and love and understanding…
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐛.
For all those of you fighting your own mental battles…
the overthinking, the self-doubt, the pressure to hold it all together while everything feels a bit loud inside…
showing up anyway, even when it’s hard…
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐛.
And for the everyday things that no one claps for…
• making 5000 tiny decisions before 9am
• carrying the “don’t forgets” for everyone else
• being the emotional regulator in the room (even when you’re feelings are overloaded and your energy is running on empty)
• answering “hey mum” 47 times in a row
• reheating your coffee… again ☕️
This is the load we don’t often talk about.
The one that doesn’t always show up on a to-do list,
but lives quietly in your mind, your body, your nervous system.
It’s not just what you do…
it’s what you hold. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY
Some days it feels heavy.
Some days you move through it with ease.
Some days you wonder if you're going to drown in it all…
Even on the messy days.
Even on the tired days.
Even on the “I’ve got nothing left” days.

To my incredible Mars Movement women… today was something special.
You didn’t just show up — you rose up.
You pushed past the voice that said “this is hard”…
You held the line when your body wanted to quit…
You proved to yourself that you are stronger, more capable, and more resilient than you think.
And THAT is what this is all about.
Not just the reps.
Not just the running.
Not just the times.
Not just the numbers.
But the shift…
The moment you realise — “I can do hard things.”
Every drop of sweat today was a declaration:

I am so bloody proud of each and every one of you.
This is more than just exercise.
