I’d like to acknowledge Shihan Athula Jayasinghe, our Teshinkai Karate representative in Sri Lanka.

Athula comes from a strong background, having served as a senior member of the Sri Lanka Police. That alone tells you a lot about the man—discipline, responsibility, and a life lived in service.

But what stands out to me is not just his career, it’s what he’s done through Karate. Over the years, he has quietly gone about his work, helping shape young people into better versions of themselves. Not through talk—but through consistency, example, and genuine care.

This is what Karate is meant to do.

His influence has reached many students, giving them direction, confidence, and a sense of purpose that stays with them long after they leave the dojo.

That’s the kind of leadership we value
