VICTORIAN COUNTRY 2026 ASSOCIATION CROQUET REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ballarat & District Croquet Association recently hosted the 46th Country AC Regionals with seven regions competing in four divisions. The event was run over 3 days at Ballarat Western and Ballarat Alexandra Clubs. The team event is decided on the hoop aggregates. Individual division results are decided in the usual manner of games then hoops.
This year the team event result was tied for first with Goulburn Valley and Geelong both accumulating 398 hoops. Northern District came in third with 348. The individual winners were Div. 1 Stephen Forster (Geelong), Div. 2 Damien Hadfield (Northern District), Div. 3 Darren Barnes (Murray Valley), and Div. 4 Darren Lester (Ballarat). The award of player with most potential was Kevin Milner (Goulburn Valley).
The event was enjoyed by participants, both as competitors and socially with attendance at a welcome BBQ at Alexandra CC and a more formal event dinner at the Ballarat Golf Club. VIP guests at the dinner were the Mayor of Ballarat, Cr. Tracey Hargraves and the President of VCA, Kate Patrick.
And as a bonus, the Ballarat weather was ideal with sunny days and moderate temperatures through the tournament.

2 of our club members participating in the AC regional finals held at Ballarat. The competition was played at 2 different clubs and unfortunately photos only available from one club. (sorry Bruce Shaw). Both Lois and Barry were Bronze Medal winners in their respective divisions.

Great results from our Northern District players

In the last week we have had the pleasure of teaching and encouraging Year 9 students from Catherine Macauley college . Thank you to the students for listening, learning and having fun playing our great game. A big thank you to our club members who gave up their time to help.

Our club golf croquet Championships were held during last week. After many matches, all played with good cheer and friendly rivalry the winners were:

Division 1: Chris Eiffert (Hcp 2)
Division 2: Trevor Ware (Hcp 6)
Division 3: Jill Millard (Hcp 11)
Open Handicap event: Kerryn Lacey (Hcp 14)

Thanks to all the players and special thanks to Captain Jill Millard, President Irene Murdoch and Treasurer Chris Eiffert for such a well organised week of play. Lastly, thanks to the many members who were spectators.

The NDCA regional golf croquet playoffs were held at Quarry Hill last week.
The successful participants were:
Division 1 - Gary D***s from Maldon CC
Division 2 - Trevor Ware from Quarry Hill CC
Division 3 - David Laird from Kyneton CC

We wish them well for the playoffs at Cairnlea in April

The Northern District Croquet Association held play-offs at Quarry Hill recently for the district Association Croquet team.
The winners and members of the team are:
Division 1: Lois Kirk
Division 2: Damien Hadfield
Division 3: Bruce Shaw
Division 4: Barry Lovell

This team will be playing at Ballarat on the 30th March to 1st April.

We wish the team the very best for the competition.

Our club hosted 32 members of the Mernda Probus Club on Thursday 5th March. They enjoyed several games of golf croquet on B courts assisted by club members. Most of the Probus club members have previously played some croquet on a synthetic tennis court and loved playing on our grass greens.
They also enjoyed a sumptuous morning tea provided by our club members.

The Scott's continued their holiday in Gippsland with Chris competing at the Lakes Entrance Singles tournament. Chris won Division 3 with 6 wins, 1 loss and +11 hoops. The runner-up was Susanne Neilsen from Howlong with 5 wins, 2 losses and +5 hoops.

Our member Bernie Lacey recently won Division 4 of the Ballarat AC Open tournament. This is a fabulous result as Bernie has only been playing AC for about 12 months.

2 of our members (Chris and Col Scott) played in the Traralgon singles GC tournament at the weekend. Chris was successful in Division 4 with 5 wins, 1 loss and +9 hoops. Col played in Division 2
