Saddle issues? We've recently incorporated live saddle mapping into our Guru Bike Fitting service here at the shop, and already seeing some nice results. For those with hard-to-diagnose saddle issues, this is best done within a comprehensive fit so we can address all the other things that affect saddle pressure like handlebar drop/reach, seat height, etc. Being able to see the pressure points along with feedback from riders allows us to make adjustments - to model, width, shape, fore/aft, tilt, and more.

We were doing our due diligence on this Pinarello that was purchased secondhand, and low and behold… the ring of death ☠️
Although this Pinarello looked nice and clean and in awesome shape on the outside, the headset had not been maintained in some time, as evidenced by the crud buildup on the steer tube. As the bearings began to build resistance, the top bearing wore a nice little groove in the steer tube. This can cause the top of the steer tube and stem to snap off when you hit a good bump on the road, hence the name.
When your mechanic recommends frequent replacement or rebuilding of the headset bearings, best to keep those working in perfect condition to avoid this costly repair (or replacement)
