The 55s would like to introduce Dennis. The new team mascot that represents everything WA. Dennis is named after Dennis Cometti who was an extraordinary human. He represents class, compassion, humility and ultimate composure and timing. Dennis is settling into his new surroundings and is looking forward to the week’s adventures.

🏑 GAME ONE — 5–0 WIN OVER ACT! 💚💛

Well, we certainly know how to start a tournament!

The first quarter had a bit of everything — including a goal off Anna’s foot that was initially awarded. But being the outstanding sportswomen we are, we confessed, handed it back and went into battle again. 😇

We may have started just a little over-excited, prompting Nathan to remind us to stay calm and breathe… apparently breathing works, because from there we came out firing!

🔥 Goal 1: Anita opened the account with a cracking direct shot from a short corner.

🌀 Goal 2: Anna then produced something that curled like a Shane Warne flipper, completely bamboozling the keeper and finding the back of the net.

⚡ Goal 3: A great ball from Hodgey found Meg, who fed Anna in the circle. Anna’s shot rebounded, but Meg had moved like The Flash and was already there to pounce and put it away.

💥 Goal 4: Mich worked her magic to earn another short corner, and Anita showed absolutely no mercy, slamming it into the back of the net.

🎯 Goal 5: Sami stepped up as our fake trapper and played her role beautifully. Robbie took the hit, and Juls — lurking dangerously high in the circle — pounced on the rebound and flicked it back over the keeper’s head. Lovely!

Across the field there was some fantastic passing and control, with Nic, Anita and Juls helping dictate the play and keep the ball moving beautifully. Our mid-field of Wags, Bernie, C’Mac ran hard and were always linking.

A brilliant 5–0 win, plenty of laughs, some great hockey and, importantly, a reminder that apparently we do need to breathe.

Game one done. ✅ Bring on the next battle! 🏑😂

Great Sunday morning hit-out for the O55s! 🏑☀️ A fantastic training session at UWA followed by a competitive run against the O60s in perfect sunshine.

Then the best kind of recovery — a yummy breakfast in Cottesloe! ☕️🥐 Great hockey, great company and a pretty perfect way to spend a Sunday. 💛🖤
