What a difference a day makes, Wednesday served up perfect golfing weather at Coolamatong: The course is looking a treat. The greens are recovering really well from coring and are coming nicely back into play.

In the Stableford, Maureen Rupic took overall honours with an excellent 40 points from C Grade. Tony Perry was second, also on 40 points, after a countback, while Andrew Haig was third with 37 points and took out A Grade.

Ball competition winners were Sam Penny (36), Karen Caban (36), Peter Hastings (36), Dave Stewart (36), Steve Young (36) and Alan Butterworth (36).

Nearest-the-pin winners:

* 17th: Tony Perry

Change Of Guard After 29 Years

The Coolamatong Golf Club ladies held their annual general golf meeting on Sunday to elect a new committee. After 29 years, Jan O’Halloran stepped down as captain, and Michelle White was elected the new captain, with Jan as vice-captain.
The O’Halloran family, Jan and her husband Brian, have been stalwarts at Coolamatong for decades, Brian also being captain of the men.
Incoming ladies captain Michelle White said it was a day of respect for Jan, and for all the work and time she has devoted to the club over an extended period.
"Jan has represented the club with distinction, and all members should applaud her for her efforts in helping the club thrive to its current standing today," said Michelle White.

Sunday Results
After several good recent scores, Rinsie Jamieson broke through for a win on Sunday with a commendable 42 stableford points at Coolamatong. Two nines of 21 apiece, including a wipe on the par-3 fifteenth hole, led to a two-shot victory.
Runner-up Michelle White finished with 40 points, edging out Terry Stevenson on a countback, and the field produced a host of good scores, with eleven golfers playing to their handicap or better.

Wednesday Results
Last Wednesday, Steve Edwards returned to the top step of the podium with 38 points to win the day. Alan Butterworth scored 36 points to place runner-up on countback from Stephen Jermyn.

This Saturday, 26 September, Jye Kearney will host his 2-ball ambrose charity event, and any player who has not booked should check the Coolamtong website events page to see if they can secure a late booking. Social golf is only available after 3pm this Saturday.

On Sunday 27 September, the golf club will host its annual general meeting immediately after the Sunday golf presentation. All players are urged to attend the meeting to learn about the latest club news and committee representatives.

Hart Claims Freebody Shield

Sunday golfers contested for the Freebody Shield in the men's divisions, with Bruce Hart scoring a credible 68 nett in the stroke round to edge out Alan Davis. A host of other good scores filled the top ten positions, with 10 players finding the course to their liking and breaking their handicaps.

Playing off an 18 handicap, Hart played a consistent round, shooting 42 on the front nine and 44 on the back nine, to have his name etched on the shield dating back to 1986.

Alan Davis had 68 for runner-up, and Rinsie Jamieson shot 69 nett to place third. The best in A grade was Mick Thoms with 69, and the ball comp ran down to 70 nett.
The best of the ladies' stroke round was Karen Caban with 73 nett.
The men’s near pins were Steve Cuff on 3, Gregg Quinn on 17, and Donna Tuckwell captured the ladies' near pin on the 17.

On Wednesday, Ian Wheeldon posted the best score with 37 stableford points, narrowly outpointing Andrew Haigh with 36 points.
Terry Stevenson placed third with 34 points, Pete Hastings was best in B grade, and Jan O’Halloran was the best of the ladies with 32 points.
The men’s near pins were won by Andrew Fisher and Michael Thoms.

Match Play
Any player who is involved in round 8 of the match play must complete their game by the end of September. Please check the draw in the clubhouse and contact your opponent.

Men's Golf Committee
After Sunday’s round, the men elected a new golf committee. Geoff Murphy continues as captain, and Steve Dunn was elected to the committee and will take up the vice-captain role. Roger White, Stephen Young and Steve Cuff continue, and newcomers Sam Penny and Soren Stoettrup were elected to the men’s committee.
The club will hold the AGM on Sunday 27 September after the golf presentation, and the club encourages everyone to stay after golf to attend the meeting.

Upcoming Events
Golfers who would like to participate in the Jye Kearney Golf Day on Saturday 26 September are urged to book now via the events page on the club's website. This event has limited capacity and is expected to sell out quickly.

Course Update
The greens were recently cored and are being nurtured for the upcoming summer season. To keep the course in good condition, all members and social players must replace divots or fill them with sand to ensure the course stays in great condition as we emerge from the winter season.
