🏒 STAFF SHOUT-OUT: ANDRE! 🐾

If you’ve spent any time at mySKATE Proshop, chances are you’ve been greeted by Andre’s infectious laugh, positive energy, a great head of hair (seriously, has he EVER had a bad hair day? 🤔) and a wealth of hockey knowledge!

This month, we’re giving a big, well-deserved shout-out to Andre, who’s been part of the mySKATE and CIA community for over two years! 🙌

Andre moved from Canada to Perth looking for a job that would keep him connected to something he knows and loves, obviously hockey! 🏒 It’s also given him the perfect balance alongside his studies, and a little taste of home along the way.

💙 For Andre, the best part of the job is all about the awesome co-workers, friendly faces and fun atmosphere, especially around the Proshop crew. There’s a real sense of community here, and that’s what makes it special!

📦 His arch-nemesis? CARDBOARD.
Weekend rushes can get pretty hectic, with customers coming from every direction and a million things happening at once. But Andre knows how to weather the storm… unless cardboard is involved. 😂📦 We won't ask any further questions.

🐾 Beyond the Proshop
When he’s not helping you find your next hockey stick or answering your gear questions, Andre is busy studying Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University. He’s in his fourth year, juggling a hefty workload while staying passionate about his future career. What a legend! 🩺🐶

When it’s time to switch off, you’ll find him playing guitar or piano, catching up with his hockey mates, or practising Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (which he started about a year ago!). And if you’re wondering whether he’s a cat person… absolutely! 🐱 His cat Chloe is back in Canada living with his mum, but we're pretty sure she still has his heart.

So next time you’re at mySKATE Proshop, say hi to Andre, have a chat about hockey, and give him a well-deserved thanks for being part of our community! 💙

Thanks for bringing the laughs, the knowledge and the good vibes, Andre! 🏒👏

🏆 SWAN TROPHY 2026 IS ALMOST HERE! 🦢⛸️

From 26–30 September, Cockburn Ice Arena will be packed with some of WA’s most exciting figure skating as the Swan Trophy International & Champ Series 2026 hits the ice.

This year’s event brings together two competitions across five days, including the second Swan Trophy International Competition to be held in Western Australia, alongside the annual Champ Series.

Expect the rink to be anything but quiet. Big jumps, fast spins, intricate footwork, spectacular programs and those split-second moments where everything comes down to one landing. 👀

For the skaters, it’s the result of months of training. For everyone watching, it’s five days of competition worth getting rink-side for.
And yes, spectators are FREE! 🙌

Come down, support the skaters and experience the atmosphere of competition at CIA.

🌟SHOUT-OUT: ISLA! 🌟

Say hello to Isla! 👋😊 You’ll find her serving up smiles at the Frostbite Café and helping out with Skate Hire here at Cockburn Ice Arena. ⛸️☕️

Isla joined the CIA team about 1.5 years ago, after a figure skating friend passed along our email address when we had a job opening, and we’re so glad she did! ❤️

As you can probably tell from that smile, Isla gets along with just about everyone! 😊 She loves the people she works with and the welcoming community we have here at CIA.

In her words: “As soon as you come in, everyone is so easy to talk to.” 🫶

Outside of CIA, Isla keeps busy playing netball, heading to the beach, and studying Sports Science at the University of Notre Dame. 🏐🌊📚

And one of her favourite perks of working at the Café? Getting a front-row view of all the action when we have figure skating competitions on the ice! ⛸️✨

Thanks for being such a friendly face around CIA, Isla! We’re lucky to have you on the team. ❤️

Next time you’re grabbing a coffee at Frostbite or hiring your skates, make sure you say hi to Isla! 👋😊
