We had a fantastic evening at Black Rock Life Saving Club on the weekend celebrating the IRB team's outstanding success. The dedication and culture evident in every training session, carnival, and throughout the season have culminated in a strong patrol team with a shared passion for IRB racing. Kudos to Maeve and Loz for expertly hosting the annual awards celebration, and congratulations to Marc on receiving the Most Valuable Boatie award and Hilel on receiving the broken paddle award! We are extremely proud of this team and look forward to another successful season ahead.

👏Congratulations to Georgie Laws - Finalist for the Youth Lifesaver of the Year (18-21 years).
🛟A huge team effort for our volunteers delivering the Black Rock Beach Day Out 2.0 in partnership with Community Hubs Australia and AMES Australia- Finalist for the Janet Jones OAM Inclusion Award.
😀Georgie was one of many Black Rock LSC volunteers that supported the Beach Day Out, which provided valuable water safety education and practical hands-on water safety and lifesaving activities for over 100 women and children from refugee and migrant communities.

When heading to the coast, use the Beachsafe app to check local beach hazards and patrol information before you go. You can also complete the Beach Passport to learn more about beach safety and how to identify and avoid common coastal hazards.

👇BLACK ROCK @ AUSSIES 2026 🤩

Black Rock's IRB Racing Team competed in the 2026 IRB AUSSIES last week up at South West Rocks NSW - which brought an end to our third season racing ducks.

This year Black Rock had 17 competitors, which is the most we have ever had compete at an Australian Championship.

Our U23s started the week off strong, making it to multiple Semi Finals. A highlight was the U23 Female Teams team making it to the final and coming 4th in the country 😎

The Open Competition was fierce and left little room for error. Black Rock managed to get a boat into most Quarter Finals, which turned into 3 Semi Final appearances;
- Open Women’s Mass (Houston we have a Rock)
- Open Men’s Mass (BBR)
- Open Female Teams (Dreamiest Team)

We are eternally grateful for all the support the team received up at Aussies and throughout the 2026 season. We wouldn’t be able to do it without our Officials, Parents, and Team Managers - Thank you. It takes a village to run an IRB Team, and we wouldn’t be able to do all of this and continue to grow without the help 🥺💙
