Congratulation to all the Blacktown City Netball teams for a wonderful Senior State Titles. Thanks you to all the players and the team officials who have had 3 early mornings and 3 days of fun playing netball. For anyone who has participated in a NNSW State Titles, you know this is a very gurling event for the players, physically and mentally.
For our 15 years team the journey began back in October, when close to 30 payers trialled for a position in squad and then the team of 12. Between then and now they have trained hard and gone to carnivals to hone their skills and their connections in the team. They have suffered some injuries that have ended the dream for the players in to play in the Senior State titles. Some are carrying debilitating injuries, but they push through these for the love of the game and the pride they have playing for BCNA. Over three days they have
β’ played 20 games of netball
β’ won 8 game
β’ lost 11 some by the smallest of margins.
β’ Scored 294 goals
β’ Placed 11th in the state from over 80 teams
For our 17 and under team the journey began a lot later as most players have Metro League commitments. Again this team had some injures, but got to play in three carnivals, to work on connection from the 3 different Metro League teams they play in, and the players that have made Blacktown their home, coming from other associations. They have played against premier Lague players and teams that have been working together as a team for many years. Over three days they have
β’ played 21 games of netball
β’ won 7 game
β’ lost 14 again some by the smallest of margins.
β’ Scored 344 goals
β’ Placed 16th in the state from over 80 teams
For our Opens team the journey began a lot later as most players have Metro League commitments. This team did not attend any carnivals and had one 90 minute training session. The team was a combination of the top 2 Metro teams and some other players from other associations that do play at BCNA on a Saturday. They too have played against premier Lague players and teams that have been working together as a team for many years. They also got to play against a team coached by an Ex Australian Diamonds coach/ Over three days they have
β’ played 19 games of netball
β’ won 10 game
β’ lost 8 again some by the smallest of margins.
β’ Scored 307 goals
β’ Placed 9th in the state from over 80 teams.
The teams would like to thank the parents, and other supporters that were on the sideline cheering them on for 1 day 2 days or all 3 days. They would especially like to thank the parents who bought the benches to the court every game, that scored for the teams, cooked and catered for the teams.
