🥋💪🌟 And that’s a wrap with Day 2 of Black Belt Camp 2026 at our Blacktown Dojo!

A massive thank you to Kyoshi Anthony Ryan for leading such an inspiring and empowering day! His knowledge, energy, insight and dedication created the perfect foundation for an incredible weekend of learning, growth and development.

Today, we explored the connection between mind, body and spirit through the principles of Sanchin, deepening our understanding of this fundamental practice and its importance in our karate journey. We delved into proprioception, interoception, metacognition and embodied metacognition.

Thank you, Kyoshi Anthony, for challenging us to push beyond our limits, expand our knowledge and continue striving for excellence. The practical drills, detailed technical breakdowns and valuable insights you shared are lessons we can take straight back to our home dojos to strengthen our own practice and inspire the next generation of students.

Stronger in mind. Stronger in body. Stronger in spirit. 🥋🔥

What an incredible end to Black Belt Camp 2026!

Not many photos today, as we were too busy being involved in the event.

What an incredible start to Black Belt Camp 2026 at our Blacktown Dojo today! 🥋💪🌟

A huge thank you to Kyoshi Gavin Samin for leading an empowering Day 1. His knowledge, energy, insight, and dedication set the perfect tone for the rest of the weekend.

Today, Kyoshi Gavin worked on refining fundamental technique, explosive power, executing kata, and giving everyone invaluable tools to take their karate to the next level.

Thank you, Kyoshi Gavin, for inspiring us all to push past our limits on Day 1. Thank you for equipping us with practical drills and key technical breakdowns that we can immediately bring back to teach and inspire our students at our home dojos.

What makes Day 1 even more special is that today was Kyoshi’s birthday! 🎉🎂🥳

His willingness to spend his special day on the mat leading, pushing, and inspiring us shows his true dedication to GKR Karate and all of us as students. Happiest birthday Kyoshi Gavin!

Looking forward to keeping this momentum going for Day 2 with Kyoshi Anthony! 💪

Thank you so much Michelle Kaloustian for the amazing photos! 📷

In mid-June, several of our Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian senior group volunteered to complete a Homes set-up with our charity partner, RizeUp Australia.

RizeUp provides all the practical items needed for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence to make a fresh start, including furniture and other household items that help transform empty houses into homes.

When each of our GKR teams arrived at their location, they were greeted by a RizeUp driver, an empty house and a truck filled with flatpacks and homewares. The teams set about unloading the truck, assembling the flatpacks, making beds, filling pantries and carefully decorating the space. This included fitting out children’s bedrooms and providing them with the materials needed to start at a new school.

After 4+ hours of work at each location, the transformation from house to home left a lasting memory for all involved. With the knowledge that a family would be entering their newly furnished home in the coming days, each team member took comfort in knowing that they had helped create a new beginning for someone in need.

We are incredibly grateful to RizeUp for the work they do and for the opportunity to be involved in their Homes program. We also appreciate the amazing support shown by all of our students and instructors who participate in the Stop Domestic & Family Violence Purple Belt Campaign. Your involvement means a lot, not only to RizeUp and the families they help, but also to GKR Karate as a whole.

If you would like to volunteer with RizeUp to help setting up Homes, information can be found here https://www.rizeup.com.au/volunteer
