❌️TRACK CLOSURE NOTICE ❌️

Folks, the track will be closed to everyone from Saturday 10th October as we continue with preparations for AKC.

A working bee is also scheduled for Saturday to erect temporary fencing and washing of buildings plus a few other jobs.

We would appreciate some hands to helps with the tasks we need to get through.

The track will reopen after AKC has concluded and pack up has been completed.

Ultimate Club Racer is exactly what the name says…an event designed for CLUB LEVEL RACERS! 💪

UCR isn’t about the racers who are already standing on the top steps at the big events. It’s about giving our up-and-coming club racers the opportunity to compete at a national event, chase a SILVER PLATE and have their moment! 🩶🏆

❌ If you’ve had a podium finish at AKC in the last 2 years, you’re not eligible.
❌ If you’ve won a State Title in the last 2 years, you’re not eligible.

This one is for the racers turning up week after week at club level, putting in the laps and waiting for their opportunity to shine! 🔥

CAN FOLLEY AFFORD TO PLAY IT SAFE AT THE GRAND FINAL?

With his main contender Levi Doessel no longer in the KA2 championship fight, Cooper Folley could be excused for going to the Grand Final at Bolivar in "cruise-mode."

But he only leads Jack Larsen by 60 points, and a clean sweep in the AKC can win you 125 points.

So can he relax? We don't think so.

South Australia’s Southern Go Kart Club at Bolivar will host the final round of the Penrite Australian Kart Championship on October 16-18, with free entry for spectators.

7Sport will broadcast the final on the 7Plus platform from 12:30pm on the Saturday and 11:30am on the Sunday.

This weekend is your last opportunity to practice at Southern Go Kart Club before AKC Round 5! 🔴🔵

Practice sessions have been submitted for both Saturday and Sunday – check the flyer for times.

🚨 From Monday 28 September, the track will be closed to AKC competitors until after the event.

Not racing AKC? Social karting practice can continue where a session has been created.

NEW ERA FOR KA2 CLASS IN 2027

Karting Australia has confirmed the elite Junior category – KA2 will enter a new era in 2027.

After ten successful years, the Vortex DVS-Junior engine will be replaced by the Vortex SV engine, which builds on the proven strengths of other Vortex products while introducing modern features and enhanced performance.

The 125cc water-cooled SV engine incorporates electric start as standard and has already been adopted across Europe, the Americas and Asia. It has also been selected by the FIA as the exclusive engine for the Arrive & Drive Championships reflecting its performance, reliability and consistency on the international stage.

Unlike the current DVS-Junior engine, which was used exclusively in the KA2 category, the SV will be a true pathway engine and will be eligible for use in the TaG 125 and Restricted TaG 125 classes as well, creating a seamless pathway from the Junior Classes through to Senior water-cooled TaG engines.

“The Vortex DVS-Junior engine has been an extremely reliable engine with great parity within our high-performance Junior category of KA2 for a decade. It has been a great platform to be able to showcase the top level of junior talent in Australia,” said Karting Australia CEO Kelvin O’Reilly.

“Technology has changed a lot over the past decade, and we look forward to our drivers benefiting from the modern technology, materials and construction from the OTK Kart Group who produce the Vortex SV engine.

“One of the most important things for our sport is to be introducing a pathway engine, we envisage this will assist with the continual growth of the KA2 class well into the future.”

The Vortex SV engine will be available for purchase in late 2026 through your local kart retailer with special pricing and trade-in opportunities for the current competitors in the KA2 category direct with OTK Kart Australia.

Archie and Jensen have two wins a piece, while Olly has been looming in the background, aiming to make history by winning Cadet 9 in 2024, Cadet 12 in 2025 and KA3 Junior in 2026.

It's with great sadness we would like to inform you that Warren Mitchell unexpectedly passed away on Thursday afternoon. We would like to pass on our deepest condolences to His wife Helen and his daughter Sharon as well as his extended family.

Warrens dedication to karting cannot be underestimated, starting as a racer and transitioning into an official then later becoming the officials coordinator for Karting SA attending almost every meeting for a number of years. He was a wealth of knowledge teaching upcoming officials.

He is a life member of the Southern Go Kart Club, had served on the committee for many years as race secretary and was usually the first person there the last to leave at working bees. He spent much time at the club often by himself doing the thankless jobs that needed to be done, rain hail or shine he would be there. He was the clubs ultimate volunteer and club man and cannot be replaced and definitely won't be forgotten.

Warren you will be missed all, RIP big fella. Everybody take a minute, raise a coppers green label to the snake catcher and salute his service to the club.
