A big thank you to Chef John Ludewig for his famous pasties, and to Robynn Wormleaton for the delicious cheesecake dessert. Everything was thoroughly enjoyed!

We were also delighted to present Wendy Wade with a certificate and flowers in recognition of her many years of dedicated service to NCC. 💐

Thank you, Wendy, for all that you have contributed to our club over the years. Your service and commitment are very much appreciated. ❤️

NSW GC Open Doubles – Newcastle

Congratulations to Brian Mitchell and Doug Cornish, who have been competing in Newcastle this weekend in the NSW GC Open Doubles.

They have done amazingly well, winning 6 of their 7 matches and securing automatic progression through to the finals! 🎉👏

Toronto Croquet Club – The Willow Challenge 🏆

This weekend, Toronto Croquet Club hosted The Willow Challenge, and two of our very own Nowra Croquet Club players, Brian Mitchell and Doug Cornish, have taken part.

After three full days of competition, Brian and Doug are triumphant in Block A - what a fantastic effort!

Croquet NSW – Division 1 Pennants
Thursday, 30 July held in the Southern Highlands

Congratulations to the Nowra Croquet Club Division 1 Pennants team on another great performance!

Our singles players, Doug Cornish and Karen Tieck, both played outstanding croquet, winning their matches to secure valuable points for the team. The doubles pairing of Geoff Evans and Brian Mitchell battled hard in a closely fought contest but were narrowly defeated 2–1.

Well done to Doug, Karen, Geoff and Brian on proudly representing Nowra Croquet Club. Your efforts and sportsmanship are a credit to the club. Keep up the great work—we’re all behind you!

Croquet NSW State 2026 Pennants Division 2 Championships
Held at Nowra Croquet Club from Friday 24th July to Saturday 25th July 2026. Four zone winning teams from the NSW Division 2 Pennants won through to this event: Coogee CC, Wollongong CC, Elanora CC and Newcastle Scratchley CC. There were three test blocks allowing each team to play the other three teams.
The winning team was: Newcastle Scratchley Croquet Club who won by only two hoops from Coogee Croquet (runners up).
Congratulations to all four teams for their play and camraderie over the two games. All scores were very close with the winner determined by hoops not matches or games. The level of play was of Division 2 standard with players showing great fortitude not conceding a hoop often going from 15 to even 45 minutes on just one hoop!
The first day was extremely cold with a sharp westerly wind blowing and all teams rugged up with coats, beanies and even gloves. A miss-match group as uniforms were hidden beneath the layers. Court 4 was not the place to be as the concensus reported that it was much colder than Courts 1 and 2. The second day while cold was much warmer and a hot barbecue was very much enjoyed by all comers, helpers, organisers and spectators.
Nowra Croquet Club were terrific hosts with tea, coffee, all day morning tea and lunches available (warm soup available on the first day with sausages, steak, onion and coleslaw on the second with cheesecake dessert to recharge the batteries). Many visitors and competitors praised the facilities and all left smiling with an invitation to come again.
Nowra Croquet Club Committee wishes to acknowledge and thank the great organisational skill of Club Captain John Orr with his off-sider for the event, Margaret Sawers. Two referees presided: Doug Cornish and Brian Mitchell both doing a professional job and eventually thawing out!
Club members yet again did the leg work of setting up the courts, timing and scoring, liasing with visitors, assisting in the kitchen (under the expert guidance of Chief Chef Gail), cleaning up at the end of the day and supporting their club. Fantastic team work! Well done us!

Boeing Defence Australia Croquet Social Day – Thursday, 9 July

The Nowra Croquet Club was delighted to host a social day for staff from Boeing Defence Australia on Thursday, 9 July.

Sixty Boeing staff joined ten club members for a fun-filled day of croquet, with our members on hand to introduce the game and help everyone enjoy the experience.

There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition and great sportsmanship throughout the day. At the conclusion, a Boeing staff member presented awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the best attempts at the game.

A wonderful day was enjoyed by all, and we look forward to welcoming the Boeing Defence Australia team back again soon!
