2026 Cross Country WA State Championships Recap
The winter season is almost over!
Over the last few weeks, both the WA State Cross Country Championships (in Joondalup) and WA State Short Course Cross Country Championships (in Burswood) were held. Both offering different distances and very different weather conditions. Was great to see a few Melville participants competing and some awesome results!
Superstar Raynor Keane medalled in both competitions, winning a Silver medal in the 3km Snr Para event in Joondalup and another Silver in the 2km Snr Para event at Burswood.
In Joondalup, Harvey Clarke finished an impressive 3rd in the U12 3km as well as an impressive 4th for Tibor Meszaros in the U11 2km.
2 weeks later, just missing the podium, Tibor finished 4th in the Burswood U12 2km event (2nd in his U11 age group) with his little sister Eneh also putting in an awesome effort to come 4th in her U9 1km event. Another gutsy 4th went to Luca Watt in the U8 1km and a tight 4th to Alfie Gray in the U14 2km event. It was a beautiful winters day to be out by the river.
Well done to all Melville athletes that competed and we hope you enjoyed the events.
There is just one last regular competition to go! Perry Lakes Reserve on 15th August - registrations are now open and will close on 12 August.
The winter season is included in your registration fees each year, so we'd love to see many, many more of you next winter in these events!
