🐟 Biggest Fish of the Classic! 🐟
A huge congratulations to junior angler Dexter McLachlan who landed a monster - a 20.02kg, 151cm Spanish Mackerel! 🎣🔥
Not only was it the biggest fish of the entire competition, but the fact it was caught by a junior makes it even more impressive. What a catch, Dexter - you’ve set the bar high for next year! 👏
Big shout out to Max and the crew from SoundzGood. Honestly, these guys are unbelievable. The staging and sound at the Classic were spot on from start to finish, and I didn’t have to worry about a thing.
Max is one of those blokes you can just trust to get it done - professional, creative, and with the vision to make it all work. I was running around like a madman all weekend and not once did I have to check on the production, because I knew Max had it sorted.
The team put in a massive effort and it showed. The sound was unreal, the staging was perfect, and they made it all look easy. If you’re planning any kind of event, big or small, you won’t find better than SoundzGood Whitsundays

🔥 Senior Champion – Keith Hudson! 🔥
Keith showed true angling mastery this weekend, weighing in five different species to claim the Senior Champion Angler title. 🎣💪 From start to finish he proved consistency is key - capped off with a monster cod that sealed the deal.
A Shimano Rod and Reel setup was Keith's prize, sponsored but Tackle World Bowen.
Big congratulations Keith - an incredible effort that sets the bar high for next year’s Classic! 🏆👏

Tyler battled it out across the weekend with some impressive catches and came out on top. What a legend effort - the future of fishing is looking strong with young anglers like Tyler leading the way! 👏👏

What a weekend! A huge thank you to everyone who came down to the Bowen Fishing Classic - the crowds, the competitors, the families, the bands, the vendors, and of course our amazing sponsors who made it all possible!
This year was a big one, a brand new entity, a fresh start, and a lot of hard work to bring the Classic back to life. It was a long road of restructuring, approvals and belief that it would all just work out, plenty of hiccups but we just made it. Now we’ve got a full year ahead to plan an even bigger and better 2026 Classic. 🚀
I just want to thank my family, especially my wife Bev, for standing by me while I took this on (and for her endless patience 😅), and to Kye Hudson who started as a committee member I needed to get the not for profit application over the line and ended being the partner that I couldn't do it without. He stuck with me to the end even though he knew how crazy it was to take this on by ourselves.
Stay tuned - comp results, highlights, and plenty more info are on the way. We’re not stopping here we will keep the competition alive all year round with monthly competitions and progress updates. 2026 is already in motion and with so many offers of support already rolling in, we can’t wait to turn this back into the legendary event this town deserves. 🐟🎆
