Yesterday's twilight sail was kindly sponsored by NQBC.
3 yachts raced around Stone Island, with Capricorn Dancer finishing first, before Frequent Flyer and Sea Change.
Thanks to Fiona for sharing the photos.

The Old Salts Memorial Race was held today in memory of Vic and Lucy Howard, two of the founding members of our sailing club.
A big thank you to Christine Snell-Kennedy for sharing some inspiring and entertaining stories about Vic and Lucy—there were plenty of smiles onshore. Thanks also to the Wallace family for sponsoring the race, and to LJ Ho**er for keeping the tradition alive with the ever-popular rum buckets.
Out on the water, seven yachts lined up for what turned into a tactical and closely contested race. The fleet worked their way upwind in a tacking duel towards the Thomas Island buoy in light conditions, with several position changes keeping things interesting early on.
Lion rounded the mark first and didn’t look back, leading the fleet around Middle Island, past the Southern Cross marker, and back into the bay to take line honours.
The breeze stayed light for most of the race before a passing squall brought a welcome lift in wind—and a stunning rainbow to top it off.
Thankfully, most crews enjoyed the breeze without getting caught in the rain.
On handicap, Sea Change sailed a consistent race to take the win, with Frequent Flyer second and Lion third.
A beautiful day on the water and a fitting way to remember Vic and Lucy.
Our next point score race will be the Brian Snell Memorial on May 17th at 12pm—we hope to see you all there!
The results were:
Line Honours: Lion
1st: Sea Change
2nd: Frequent Flyer
3rd: Lion, by 42 seconds to
4th: Ruthless, by 6 seconds to
5th: Capricorn Dancer
6th: Delta Lady
7th: Air Apparent

We know this club runs on good wind, great people… and even better stories.
So for our 75th, we want yours!
Old photos, trophies, tall tales, or that one race you definitely should have won — send them in to [email protected] or drop them off at the club.
Let’s make this celebration one to remember (and maybe slightly exaggerate)
