What a day for our crew at Ryde IPS meet

Seven swimmers — Donna, Suzie, Russell, Derek, Cristan, Lexie and Joel, hit the pool and together brought home an incredible 8th place out of 27 clubs! 🔥

And there was plenty to celebrate individually too:
🥇 Joel — 1st
🥈 Russell — 2nd
🥉 Donna — Equal 3rd
🥉 Suzie — 3rd
🥉 Cristan — 3rd

But the best part? Plenty of PBs, swimmers stepping outside their comfort zones and giving new events a crack, lots of laughs and plenty of cheering for each other along the way.

A small but mighty crew doing what we do best, racing hard, backing each other and having a whole lot of fun.

When Andrew joined our club in December, he was so nervous he almost turned around. He remembers struggling to complete 50m freestyle and never imagined winning a swimming medal would be something he could achieve.

Fast forward just a few months and Andrew competed at the MSNSW State Masters Relay Meet, where he won his very first swimming medal as part of a relay team.

Since joining, he’s gone from struggling through 50m freestyle to swimming 200m butterfly, competing at carnivals and continually challenging himself.

Andrew’s journey is a wonderful reminder that you don’t need to be an experienced swimmer to join a club. It’s about showing up, having a go and being surrounded by people who encourage you along the way.

In Andrew’s words, the club already “feels like another home.” We’re so proud of how far you’ve come, Andrew! 🏊‍♂️🥇

Happy 70th Birthday, Heather! 🎉

This morning our club came together to celebrate Heather’s 70th with a sausage sizzle, morning tea, speeches and cake.

A Life Member and part of our club for an incredible 35 years, Heather has given so much to swimming through countless roles, years of officiating and supporting generations of swimmers.

Her love of the sport has also been shared with her family over the years, and she still enjoys swimming alongside her youngest daughter, Lexie.

Heather’s contribution to sport has been recognised with an OAM, and this year she was also awarded the Betty Grant Award for her outstanding contribution to Masters Swimming NSW.

Happy 70th, Heather! You are a very special part of our swimming family and we hope you had a wonderful day celebrating! 🎂

Sunday morning started with our usual club swim before a road trip to Bundanoon to celebrate Christmas in July.

Owen is a very special member of Campbelltown Masters, travelling more than an hour every Sunday morning to swim a few laps, share plenty of laughs, and catch up with everyone. This weekend, it was our turn to return the favour and make the trip to beautiful Bundanoon.

A huge thank you to Angelica for organising such a fantastic day, and to Owen and Indra for warmly welcoming and hosting everyone while showing us the beauty of the Southern Highlands.

Great food, plenty of laughs, and even better company. A perfect way to finish a Sunday with the Campbelltown Masters family.

Sunday mornings at the pool 🏊‍♂️

Today’s challenge: choose any two — 200m, 400m or 800m. Some chased speed, some chased endurance, and some just challenged themselves to have a go.

That’s what Masters Swimming is all about — swimmers aged 20 to 80+, all abilities, all supporting each other.
