Six teams brought speed, skill and plenty of close racing to the 2026 PCA Junior National Mounted Games Championships in Darwin, with every state contributing to a terrific competition.

Tasmania secured third place with 76 points, including a win in the 5 Mug, while the Northern Territory celebrated victory in the Two Flag Race. Western Australia and South Australia also produced some excellent racing throughout a highly competitive morning.

Reminders from Pony Club NSW about some of the gear we use on our horses 🐴🐎🐴

πŸ‘‚ This Week’s Gear Reminder: Ear Covers, Fly Hoods and Bonnets

Ear covers, fly hoods and bonnets may be made from sound-reducing material, but there are some important rules to remember:
❌ Ear plugs are not permitted
❌ Bonnets and hoods must never be tied down
❌ They must not be attached to the noseband

These requirements are outlined in Blue Book Section 2.13, page 26.

Before attending a rally, clinic or competition, always check the current online Blue Book and the Pony Club Australia National Gear Rules for the full and most up-to-date requirements.

A quick gear check before you ride can help prevent confusion on the day.

Braidwood Pony Club rally day Sunday 9th August.
Gear check from 9.30 at Pony Club shed
Zone 27 camp is less than 7 weeks away we’ll spend some time getting equipment and checking it carefully for camp, then use it to make sure everything is safe and ready.
Canteen will be busy cooking up a sausage sizzle and egg and bacon rolls.
There has been a weather prediction for rain tomorrow. While we really hope this happens and is enough to wash out our rally day, chances are that there won’t be enough to cancel our rally day.
But, being positive that it will rain our pony club certificate books and ground based activities are ready for us to work on if the weather gods decide to reward us with rain.
See you tomorrow 🐴🐎🐴

Footwear reminders for Pony Club 🐴🐎🐴

πŸ₯Ύ The Right Footwear Matters Around Horses

Flip-flops, Crocs, sandals and soft shoes are never suitable around horsesβ€”no exceptions.

Whether you are riding, leading, grooming or helping at a rally, approved riding boots provide important protection and help keep you safe.

Pony Club-approved footwear includes:

βœ… Jodhpur boots
βœ… Tall riding boots
βœ… Paddock boots

The right boots provide:

🐴 Better protection if a horse steps on your foot
🐴 A secure and supportive fit
🐴 Smooth soles
🐴 A clearly defined heel to help prevent your foot sliding through the stirrup

Before walking onto the grounds, take a moment to check your footwear. It only takes secondsβ€”and it matters.

No boots, no horse activities. Safety starts from the ground up.
