Kitanogaman Beya's lovable larrikin Joel Kindred has snagged a silver in the Scottish Sumo Open! His tenacious style also won him the fighting spirit prize! Congratulations Joel🏆

Awesome results from the Australian Sumo Federation Oceania championships last Sunday from the Qld contingent.

Spectacular sumo on display from Tony taking a double gold in openweight and light-heavy weight in his first sumo competition!

Both Angus Jell and Waylon Wolfenden performed solidly, building experience with an eye on medals next year.

Joel Kindred coming in underdone with an injury plagued preparation relied on his experience to snag the silver in lightweight.

Qld also managed to come away with 3rd in the teams event.

Really proud of the lads efforts and hopefully we send a bigger team next year!

Shoutout also to Shin-Gi-Tai Judo Club who graciously allow us to wrassle on their tatami.

Good luck to our wrestlers competing at the Oceania championships today - Australian Sumo Federation may have some new reps from Qld going to worlds this year!

Coach Vito Bazzana has refereed before internationally and has confirmed there is no better seat in the house!

Joel in action in this year's world champs!

Joel Kindred for Australia vs Italy, in the teams event at the 2023 ISF Sumo World Championships, Tachikawa, Tokyo. Here Joel showed a brilliant parry and sidestep followed up by a speedy charge for an Osh*taoshi (frontal push down) victory. Joel has a combined 10 Gold medals at national and Continental championships and has placed 4th at the Sumo world championships twice. This year he wrestled in Senpo, 1st position for Australia in the teams event, as well as in Lightweight division.
