King Lingers 2026 – Gold Coast

What a fantastic afternoon catching up with great mates ahead of the competition.

We wrapped up our afternoon briefing at Doug Burts Tackle World Gold Coast — a huge shoutout to Doug Burt and Stuart Grice for their outstanding hospitality, support, and the valuable information they provided to the veterans who make up the King Lingers. Your backing truly means a lot to the boys.

A massive thank you as well to Miss Cocoa's Coffee Roastery (Hervey Bay) for putting together an incredible coffee pack and Aeropress setup to get the teams firing each morning.

It’s also great to have SHIMANO Australia Fishing on board, generously providing everyone with a bag of goodies.

We’re super excited to hit the water for Day One tomorrow and can’t wait to see the teams’ catches rolling in for scoring.

🔥 Barambah prawn madness🔥

New PB Whiting 🐎 Barambah prawns💎 Unexpected catch 🙀

After having great success with the Barambah Prawn Stinger Shrimp 55 Finesse in Pumpkin up the Nerang canals we decided to chase some Bream in the Jacobs Well area on Saturday.

This turned out to be a great plan with the Stinger Shrimp accounting for a number of Bream including a new PB for one of the kids. This was quickly followed by a new PB, absolute 🐎 of a Whiting that went 42cm.

Team Flat Spinning headed out for a sneaky midweek fish, and the deep bite did not disappoint! A 77, 71, 52, and 45cm Flatty came aboard in quick succession on Fish Traps and S Tackle 6” Rattle Minnows.
Add a solid Jewy into the mix—also on the 6” Rattle Minnow—and it was a cracking start to the day.

We dropped a few crackers, so decided to move on and hit some flats that had been producing.
A quick session in the middle blocks followed, and while it was quieter than usual, it still delivered quality fish thanks to a combo of trolling the S Tackle Shake & Dance Shad and flicking the Barambah Lures Stinger Shrimp 90F into the drains.

Another top day on the water aboard the Quintrex 590 Frontier from Surf Coast Marine powered bu the awesome Suzuki Australia Marine 150DF.

So good. Thanks to the Barambah Lures team. Always good finding another lure that just fills you with confidence.

🔥 2025 Flathead Classic 🔥

Hard bite. 🦈 Mako sunnies. 🤦 Lost (and found) Certates. ☀️ Burnt nether regions. 🤿 Scuba Steve Paddy.

The 2025 Gold Coast Flathead Classic once again delivered everything we love about this event — plenty of laughs, good banter, cracking stories, and a few quality flatties to top it off!

Team Flat Spinning – Surf Coast Marine hit the water with high hopes after a strong pre-fish, but the flathead had other ideas. A tough deep bite and fish moving from our pre-found areas had us changing tactics early.

Day 1:
A slow start saw our first few spots very quiet, but we did find a floating Mako shark that made up for it! We managed to catch the floating shark and score a pair of MAKO Eyewear Sunnies. A late patch of fish saved the day, and just when spirits were tested, Paddy “lost” a Certate combo overboard… only for it to magically reappear later that night sitting proudly in the rod stand.

Day 2:
The day started with Thing spilling a full cup of hot coffee on his lap ☕🔥 but we were on the board early with a cracking 71cm fish in the first 10 minutes. Then… nothing for hours. The highlight? Scuba Steve (Paddy) diving in wearing nothing but his jocks to rescue his favourite trolling lure. We finished the day trolling hard and piecing together a respectable bag.

Day 3:
We started deep at Kalinga, landing a few fish on the STackle 3.5” Paddle Tail Slim and 4” Rattle Minnow. A move to shallower ground saw the Barambah Prawn lure deliver some solid upgrades.

We wrapped up in 23rd overall, landing 50 fish in what we’d call one of the tougher Classics we’ve fished but still our best result.

🔥 WILSON ELITE FLATHEAD SERIES GRAND FINAL🔥

💥 After missing the Grand Final last year by a heartbreakingly small margin we were determined to go for broke in the Grand Final of the Wilson Elite Series run by Gold Coast Sportfishing Club

THE PLAN CAME TOGETHER💪

We started deep with a combination of Fish Traps and 6inch S Tackle rattle minnows.
The day started well with a double hook up on a mid 60s model and Paddy’s PB, a 85cm Croc that was very close to disaster with a set of the Fish Trap trebles getting stuck in the net.
We then ground out the rest of the day in the deep finishing with a respectable 624cm for 10 fish giving us 4th position.

As always the Quintrex 590 Frontier from Surf Coast Marine didn’t miss a beat.

Great day out on the water with the awesome crew from Surf Coast Marine on the Gold Coast! I was lucky enough to jump behind the wheel of their Quintrex 540 Top Ender during a photo shoot for the epic Flathead Classic prize boats.

What. A. Day. 💥 Round 3 of the Wilson Elite Series run by Gold Coast Sportfishing Club and we are bloody stoked– by far our BEST result yet! 💪
We kicked things off with every rod rigged with S Tackle Pad Tail Slims and Rattle Minnows – and as expected, they DID THE JOB! 🎯 From the first cast, we were on fire. Started strong with a solid bag early… then first time ever pulling 3 fish over 70cm in ONE session!
We came SO close to the win, but two other teams landed insane 90cm giants and just edged us out. Huge congrats to Team Nomad Design on a massive effort and a well-deserved win! 👏🔥
