Yes, maybe support someone through media firestorms rather than cutting them adrift to deal with it by themselves.

And more recently with Justin Langer, why not tell the players that every now and then in life you will encounter someone in an authority position with whom you don’t perfectly gel. And instead of whinging and carping that you use it to learn how to cope and then thrive in such situations?

Maybe even listen to this highly-credentialed person and you might learn something.
