Well, it’s been a while since the last “spotlight” I’ve been crazy busy with life and I’ve not had the time to chase things up but with Vw Warwick just around the corner dormant bugs are starting to stir… here’s the latest, one of the og turbo teddies, Barry and Darcy Cripps in the Essex bro’s drag bug!

The Essex Bros bug come about way back before 2009, a friend of mine gave me this trashed bug, it was green with red flames. It had very little going for it.
I had nothing much going on in my shed at the time, with fond ac memories from a previous life in Southend Essex I decided to continue with a chopped drag bug project.
We took a US holiday & came back with quite a bit of VW race parts to complete the car. The car has been on the track from 2013. After a few shaky starts, the car eventually ran a best time at Swan Hill 10.40.
Most recent time out was on the dyno after some engine repair’s & mods & changes to the fuel. It put down 320 at the rear wheels before splitting a cylinder.
It’s all repaired & the 20 year anniversary at Warwick is sounding very inviting!

In other huge news! This year will introduce GRUDGE RACING! You can call out your mates, throw down bets or just do it for bragging rights till next year! This will be held after the finals have been run on Saturday night! Funds raised go straight to the track other than the bets that are placed between drivers!

I have had some questions raised about what’s required to race at Vw Warwick so I made up this flyer. I’ll be doing instructions on how to enter in another post when entries open so we don’t get the confusion from previous years so sit tight for that one!
