Despite the u15’s unfortunately getting called off due to rain, round 3 was another successful week for the TTC Tigers. Versing a strong Lakes team, the u13 team only managed to set 147 in the first innings. Having taken 6 wickets on day 1, the team needed 4 more wickets, whilst the Lakes needed 46 runs. Arriving around 7am on Saturday, the pitch was soaked and with some squeegee work and help from AK’s blower the team finally got on at 12:45pm. The Lakes played well early and managed to get another 17 runs. Shanvi took the first wicket before Waris came on and clutched up, taking 3 wickets in 4 balls. Player of the round for round 3 had to be shared this week between Aaron Jaishi (64 off 58) and Waris Bhagi 4-10. Without both players contributions the team simply could not have got the job done. A big thanks again to Brisbane surgical supplies for supporting the team :)

Yesterday I was shocked and extremely proud to be presented life membership #27 at Brisbane North Cricket Association. Being involved with BNJCA has brought me so much joy over the years and I can honestly say I have looked forward to every single session or game I’ve coached. I didn’t want to take up too much time yesterday but looking through the life members list there are some serious names and this is a huge honour. The list includes so many mentors for me and people like Reevsie, Steve and Kathy Casey are such inspirations. BNJCA is just much more than a cricket association to me, it’s a community where I have met so many wonderful people who I care about a lot.

A big thank you must firstly go to Aaron Mills for giving me the opportunity to start at Brisbane north all those years ago. I’d like to thank every volunteer that’s helped me run a session, game or trial, every parent that’s put their trust in me coaching their child (I don’t take this responsibility lightly) and every player I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I would also like to give a huge thank you to the committee that voted for me. The biggest thank you must go to my family, particularly my parents, who have supported me all the way. They allowed me to follow my passions and taught me the values of hard work.

Whilst I can’t always get it right I’m trying to improve all the time and am looking forward to plenty more years at Brisbane north!

Week 2 of the winter season saw the u13 Tigers begin their campaign against the Lakes. Although the team only managed to post a modest 147 they are well and truly in the game thanks to a brilliant 64 off 58 by Aaron Jaishi. The team started well with the ball and have 4 wickets to get thanks to bowling standout Gurfateh 2-16 off 4 overs and great pressure by all other bowlers. Meanwhile the u15’s had a dominate win against Wilston North. Whilst work can still be done with the bat, important middle order runs from Aarav Patel (23 off 54 balls) and Heath Mayor (25 off 21) helped the team get to a decent total of 169 on a tricky pitch. The bowlers then made inroads early with both Riley and Rithvik taking 2 each before Haydan Palmer cleaned up with 2 for 10 off 3. Man of the match for this week was tough with many good performances, but it goes to Riley Johnston for his contributions with the bat (18 off 32) and key early wickets (2 for 12 off 5 overs)!
A big thankyou again to Brisbane Surgical Supplies for making it possible.

The TTC winter season got off to a start last weekend with the u15’s narrowly losing to a strong Lakes team. TTC player of the match was Eeshan Mishra with 2-17 off 8 overs with the ball and 34 with the bat. The team will be looking to bounce back this weekend against Wilston North after a strong week training. A big thank you to the sponsor Brisbane Surgical supplies for making it all possible.

The winner of the TTC player of the summer season is Mehtab Sandhar! Congratulations Mehtab you will get a 3 hr free session with me.

Mehtab is one of the most hardworking kids I know, taking on feedback well and always working hard on it. Mehtab is now one of the fitter kids I coach playing 3-4 games per weekend and his energy and enthusiasm is always very high. Mehtab scored more runs than shown on his profile as he played t20s and up in opens (which play hq didn’t allow him to put his name as he was too young).

Mehtab also bowled plenty of overs taking key wickets and bowling tight overs to quality batsmen.

Mehtab is a great example to others, supporting his teammates and always keeping it positive. He’s improved to be extremely safe under high balls and has a powerful throw.

I’m super excited to see how Mehtab goes over the winter and I hope in summer next year he gets the opportunity to show his talents at higher levels as I’m confident he will succeed. It’s been an awesome journey to watch Mehtab improve since we started coaching back in 2022. His parents are super supportive and his success is a huge credit to them.

Nominations for TTC player of the summer season:
Mehtab Sandhar- When including t20 and opens games Mehtab’s runs go up to about 1300 which is unreal at an average of over 60. Mehtab also bowled a mix of offies and leggies taking 32 wickets.

Isaac Lovell- Isaac took out the second most runs for the GPS 7a comp and scored 3 hundreds following a maiden hundred for Brisbane north earlier in the year.

Eshaan Minna- Eshaan made his first Brisbane North side this year and played in the QJC side. Eshaan hit 402 runs at 44 and hit 5 50s for the season. Meanwhile Eshaan took 26 wickets including a standout 6-17 in the QJC comp.

Ranjot Brar- Jimmy made QJC a year young this year and contributed well with the ball. Unfortunately due to retirement rules Jimmy was left short of a few milestones but he hit 2 50’s in 527 runs. With the ball Jimmy also took 26 wickets at a very low average bowling his medium pace.

Waris Bhagi- Waris made his first Brisbane north side this year and successfully captained a winning Ian Healy cup side. Waris hit 591 runs including his first hundred and 2 50’s and took 21 wickets at an average of 12.95.

Sara Lalwani- a great year playing her first year of senior women’s and qld u15’s. Sara scored 717 runs including 4 50’s and 37 wickets with her leg spin.

Aakrith Ramaswamy- Micky had another great year playing for QLD, QJC SEY and his school A team, scoring 1244 runs at 42.9 including 6 50s, 1 100. Micky continues to improve as a wicket keeper and won WK of the year for BSHS.

Hunter Fitz-Lauritsen- Hunter had another great season scoring 3 50’s and bowled wicket-taking pace taking 17 wickets at a very low average.

Nick Headrick- making the u12 QJC side again Nick hit a career high massive 123 vs Churchie as well as taking 25 wickets at 15.

Oliver Harris- although I didn’t get a chance to coach Ollie with his busy schedule in summer I have worked with Ollie since 2022 and over winter he set out for big things in the summer and achieved a lot of them. Ollie made 2nd grade at 15yrs old, tavs, 19s and made the QLD rookie challenge. A breakout 176 was the highlight of an outstanding year.
Winner to be announced today.

I am delighted to say we will be partnered with Brisbane Surgical Supplies for the winter season as our main sponsor. Thankyou very much to Raju Rapaka for supporting us. If you know anyone that needs some quality surgical supplies feel free to reach out or visit their website https://brisbanesurgicalsupplies.com/

This deal will allow for the two winter teams (u13’s and u15’s) to access quality physio sessions to improve warmup routines, learn routines for strength and power development as well as acquiring access to new balls and gear for the winter season. I am super excited about the winter season and it’s exciting to see both teams filled with players who are super eager to learn and improve. If everyone buys into the culture, remains a student and is honest to their craft the sky is the limit for these teams.

PS. I will be posting updates a lot more throughout the winter on here. 🙂
