🏆 WOMEN’S PLAYERS’ PLAYER — EMILY DUNNELL 🏆

This year, our Players’ Player was incredibly hard to separate. We had an amazing group of women answer the call to represent Queensland and pull on the Cassowaries jersey but one of our rookies made an unforgettable impact.

Congratulations to Emily Dunnell, voted Players’ Player by her teammates. 🩵

Emily came into this tour having never played rugby union, or any contact sport in her life.

Then she went out there and absolutely tore in.

She scored an incredible number of tries, made try saving tackles and repeatedly put her body on the line for the women beside her. But more than that, she embraced everything it means to be part of this team, learning, listening, backing herself and backing her teammates.

There’s something pretty special about being recognised by the women you take the field alongside and this one is so well deserved.

And to top off an incredible first carnival, Emily has also earned selection in the Australian Police Rugby Union side. 🇦🇺

From complete rookie to Players’ Player and Australian representative. What an introduction to rugby union!

Welcome to the Cassowary family Emily. We have a feeling this is only the beginning. 🩵🏉

Congratulations, Em. So well deserved. 👏

Every woman who pulled on our jersey this carnival contributed to the environment, standards and culture that allowed our team to perform. When one of us succeeds, we all celebrate.

Emily, Liz, Maz, Morea and Sydnie, you have earned this opportunity. Wear that Australian jersey with pride and know you have an entire group of women standing behind you.
