Kenpo Karate Brisbane is committed to providing a safe, supportive and respectful environment for all children and young people in our club.
From 1 April 2026, organisations like ours are required to comply with the Queensland Child Safe Standards, guided by the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. We welcome this important step and have formally adopted these standards within our club.
As part of this commitment, we are strengthening our governance, policies and procedures to ensure:
• The safety and wellbeing of children is at the centre of everything we do
• Clear expectations are in place for instructors, volunteers and students
• Safe, appropriate physical contact practices are always followed
• Children and families feel confident to speak up and be heard
• All concerns are taken seriously and responded to appropriately
Martial arts training involves discipline, respect and physical interaction. We recognise our responsibility to ensure this occurs in a safe, controlled and professional environment at all times.
We are currently implementing:
• A Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy
• A Child Safe Code of Conduct specific to martial arts
• Clear reporting and incident management procedures
• Ongoing training and awareness for instructors
This is part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and ensuring every child can train, learn and grow with confidence.
