Life's a learning curve.
My worst Technical race in a while. The downside of training at 91cm and going back down to 86. Bigger picture at play. Back to it.
0.07s between 2nd and 4th. Time to work on 0.01s

Sometimes you have to go back to basics, and rebuild.
Grateful to Dr Cullen, former Qld Reds team doctor, for finding the real issue and Harry and Gina at Q Performance for all the rebuild and rehab exercises, plans and strategies.

16 happened! Happy birthday Dan my ambitious, resilient, hard-working, driven, funny, kind hearted, studious, national champion x 5, too many state titles to count, footy loving son. Mum's so proud of who you are, and happy to be a part of your amazing journey doing whatever you choose - from Power Rangers and Wiggles to wherever your journey takes you. Happy 16th Dan ๐ช๐ซถ๐งก๐

Recovery is a fine balance of rest, rehabilitation, and patience whilst maintaining a positive outlook, keeping ambitions alive and mental health in check. Followed by a systematic, smart reintroduction to training, rebuilding and reassessing future goals and dreams. Dan's back training and next week trains in spikes for the first time in about 9 months. Athletic life is not for the faint hearted nor weak. To those also recovering from injury, stay strong, build your support networks and be a support yourself, remember rest is crucial, as is reassesing and focusing your energy on your physical and mental health, future and now goals and ambitions. You've got this.

At Paul Brennan Injury Clinic... getting closer to full recovery.
If you want something different, you have to think different, do and be different.

Dan had his first Bulldogs Qld Pups Academy Session yesterday however he could only participate a little.
The MRI results showed his stress fracture has healed, back to a stress reaction, however both feet have stress reactions, with bursitis and a few other things. We also had his bloods done to find any nutritional deficiencies.... of which phosphate was found. One of the symptoms of that is lack of appetite and bone pain!!!!!!!!! Guess what we're working on! So he's upping his food consumption (he already eats really well just needs more of it).
We've started ice baths twice daily on his feet, insoles in shoes, and very little load or intensity - determined by pain levels and adapted accordingly.
Seeing a musco-skeletal specialist this week too. The journey has been long but boy it's taught us both a lot - and as they say, everything happens for a reason. The 7 months of rest has helped him realise what he wants, and increased his drive .. if that was even possible lol.
Dan really enjoyed the academy session and I was proud of the way although he couldn't do much physically, he did what he could.. if the boys had to do a push up he did it with them, when they ran drills he helped passing balls, doing cones etc. V proud mumma.
Of course, I took my camera and the other 230 photos are over on my Jo Harlow Photography group page.
Here's to resilience in teens. Here's to not comparing your journey to someone else's. Here's to good mental health in teens. Here's to good nutrtition in teens. Here's to chasing your dreams. Here's to never, ever, giving up.
